Remember we only have five days to get our favorites in the NAVYMOM COOKBOOKS - FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA

here is the link if you want in it http://www.cookbookpublishers.com/utypeit/login.cfm

the proceeds go to Molly's which in turn goes to our troops

Laura, we will be your shoulders to lean upon and listen as only other military moms and families can do.  And, at 17, your "baby" is very young and we are very proud of his decision to join the Navy.  (((hugs))) Carol

Laura, it is not whimpy.  I can remember when my son left 2 years ago.  I was devastated. I even looked at jobs up in Great Lakes area. (I had it bad).  But family support was awesome.  In addition to writing to my son every week I adopted a soldier through Soldier's Angels to put my engeries into positive avenues (just like Pat suggested).  Doing activities like this helped me get through.  You have a tremendous amount of support here.  Let me know if I can do anything for you.

Thank you all for your support. It means a lot to me.  To be honest I feel a little wimpy admitting that I am sad.  I am usually a stronger person than this.  It is a comfort knowing that I have a group watching over me.  Thank you!

Lauren, I am in the Northern suburbs about 30 minutes West of Great Lakes.

Huggs Laura ..it has been 7 yrs and still asking myself that one. Reading your statement about falling off bike brought it all back. Being a single mom and staying single, I put everything into my sons and just about lost my mind when my baby joined the ARMY last year....then I turned back here and realized I have not lost anything I have gained so much. and I so Agree with Pat . I joined Molly's and when the house gets to quite( which since my son was a dummer it seems to be to quite everyday)  I throw myself into a project. What part of Il do you live in? We are getting together on the 30th for lunch in Rockford you'd love to have you join us....

Thanks for all the greetings.  My son is at Pearl Harbor on the USS Crommelin (not sure of spelling).  He has 2.5 years left.  Just spoke with him last night. Whoo Hoo.

Laura, My boyfriend graduates basic next Friday. The beginning is the hardest part, then once letters start coming in it gets a whole lot better and easier. When he leaves, find the PIR group for your son. It will be a group of ladies with sons/daughters/husbands/boyfriends in bootcamp with your son. From mine, I have met about 6 ladies from my boyfriend's division, including the wife of his best friend at bootcamp. The group is a lifesaver and is great for having people to talk to. I have no idea what I would do without mine.

Laura, I don't know exactly how you get through this, BUT YOU DO!! You find out info on what he is doing, starting with basic. Then you talk with the moms here who have "been there, done that." Then join something like "Molly's Adopt A Sailor" and put your energy in a positive direction. Remember, sister, we have your back and we ALL have been exactly where you are right now!

My son leaves for boot in 3 weeks. I have been telling everyone that I am fine. I'm not.  Hubby was ful time Army when we got married.

You think that I would be use to this by now.  It is different with my son. I keep thinking, how can this little boy who fell off his bike be going away to the Navy?  He is only 17. I fully support him & his decision but I am going to miss talking to him every day.  How am I going to get through all of this?
