Once you accept me as friend, you can also private message me with other news and information, too.

What is your son's career path with the Navy?

WE have a packing party in Troy on Sun. Feb. 13th, Troy VFW, Troy, IL  from noon to 3 pm.  I'll be sending the adoption list out soon.

Jo1,  generally your sailor will have to be back on post each night.  I have heard of some who got to stay the night but, I think those are grad and go.  When you take him back allow penty of time as there are alot of sailors returning to post and it may take sometime to get through the gate.  He can not be even 1 min late.  The general rule is if you are on time then you are late.

After my sons PIR I was wondering if he could come home with us instead of getting a hotel room? We live near Rockford Illinois and I was wondering if the navy has restrictions on how far they can go?

T-Lynn...another place is the Navy Lodge  we have stayed there for both PIR's and when my sailors were up there for  A-school  we statyed there too.  I think it $65 a night NO TAX ..bu there is not a pool...not super fancy but nice.  They also have rooms with kitchenetts.  We stayed there over Thanks giving and the kitchenette worked out knicely...no oven but a microwave, stove top and fridge plus, dishes.

My boys both wanted something from home and home made when we went.

T-Lynn,  Flanagans is a great place to eat.  They have the best soups and their prices are very reasonable.  We eat there everytime we go up to see our son.  The Courtyard in Waukegan, 3800 Nothoint Blvd. has special rates for PIR.  They have a shuttle to PIR and there are numberous great places to eat within a few blocks.  I still stay there whenever I go up to see my son.
