Hi Dianne--your recruiter may have an address for you.  then, you will get your box and note with most likely a different address.  Either will eventually get his mail to him, as it is held the first couple of weeks.  Go ahead and write as many letters as you can, even if you mail a ton of them in one day.

I was not bothered by the box.  It smelled like boy, and I'm glad I opened it as they had swimming test again that night of MEPS and all his clohes were wet.  Ours came within a week.  You can tell they were told to just "rip" off their clothes and stuff them in a box--lol!

T-Lynn,

The name of the restaurant is Flanagans, 3201 Buckley Road, North Chicago.  The hotel next to it is the Red Carpet Inn, 3207 Buckley Road, North Chicago. phone number 1-888-249-9119 or ldirect ocal 847-689-9400.

I live about 40 minutes from Great Lakes and hubby goes to work there everyday.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Welcome Diane, You should get the dreaded "box" sooner than 3 weeks. Right around 2 weeks you will get his address.

Will it snow or not here in SW IL?  I went ahead and packed up the school kitchen like it was a weekend, but really hope we don't get it as bad as predicted.  They say the heavy snow won't start until after midnite, so that means no call until about 5 am (or o"dark hundred.)

There's your Sign !

Maybe we are going o be blessed with a Spring Season.  My mom remembers moving up here from Southern IL in 1956.  There was a Spring once, that lasted a few months.  Not as long as Southern IL's.  There it  starts in late February.  My relatives would call and share about the Croches blooming on my birthday  in February and mom would tell them that dad was out shoveling snow.  But in March - there was Spring - warm breezes and flowers blooming.

What does everyone else think - will we have Spring Season - up in Northern IL?

I had a wonderful wake up call from my sailor.  It was one of those - " I need to compain to Mom, she will understand" calls.  He is so frustrated.  The ship is very busy now and two shipmates are gone.  So work details are doubled up.  The ship is having troubles with getting all the bugs out of the new systems from being in dry dock.  Plus he has his last home work assignment to turn in and then to take the final.

To top it off to make him even more upset- Sype had a bug in it and our phone call was full of stagic.

I told him all will work out - he will get that assignment done and turn in on time.  He will pass the final with flying colors too.  And the ship will get all those nasty bugs out.  He said ok Mom and thanks.  That he needed to get some more coffee and finish.  I hugged him the best I could over the phone and wish him a good evening.  Guess I need to get a care package off to him.  So glad I didn't tell him that Shark now wants an umbrella to go with her kimono.  He has enough on his plate.

Friends - I am taking a ME Day today. Join in and treat yourselves speical :)

I have a question - does any one remember the name of the hotel that has an Irish resturant right next door to it - and it is located just down the road from Great Lakes? I can't remember the name at all.  There are 2 new Navy Moms with sons in BC - they will PIR in March and I was sharing about the need to make reservations as soon as they get information about the PIR.   Thank you
