Hello everyone!

I have a little announcement to make regarding Navy Weeks!

For those of you that are not sure what Navy Weeks are, they consists of a series of events designed to tell the Navy story: what the Navy does, why it’s important, and what opportunities exist in today’s Navy. This can include appearances by Admirals and sailors, Blue Angels, Leap Frogs, EOD dive tanks, flight simulators, SEAL Fitness Challenges, and performances by the Navy Band.

This year there have been 22 cities selected to host Navy Week events, the first of which is Phoenix followed by St. Louis, Des Moines, Denver, Spokane, Janesville, WI, Rochester, Chattanooga, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, Boston, Salinas, CA, Omaha, Columbus, OH, Knoxville, York, PA, Reno, Greenville, SC, Houston and New Orleans.

N4M is not sponsoring these events, but want to help you get involved! I’ll also be posting Events on the site for each Navy Week visit as we receive more details – so keep your eyes peeled! If you're interested in coordinating something special with fellow N4M members, here's some Do's and Don'ts to keep in mind :)

DO get involved with Navy Weeks.
- You are encouraged to participate in Navy Week activities when appropriate.
- If you want to get involved with the Navy coordinators, your group should appoint a "spokesperson" to coordinate with the Navy. (This will alleviate multiple calls on the same topic.). The Navy Week points of contact can be found on www.navyweek.org. Go to the schedule and click on the city that you are interest in. The point of contact for that city's Navy Week will be listed.

DO NOT independently contact the flag officers or VIP participants involved in your town's Navy Week, but do work through the appointed Navy Week points of contact listed on www.navyweek.org

I have created Event pages for each city. You can find them here:

Denver

Spokane

Rock County

Rochester

Chattanooga

Oklahoma City

Quad Cities

Boston

Salinas

Omaha

Columbus

Knoxville

York

Reno

Albuquerque

Greenville

Houston

New Orleans

Sincerely,
Elle

Navy Week is held around the country. It is a week's worth of activities to bring the good name of the Navy to the communities. I'll have to see if I can find any pix from last year, but don't expect anything this week, as very hectic at work.

Sue--all I know is that admin will probably post it as an event closer to the date. Michele C has asked if there will be an informational booth and a computer available to show off N4M. We shall see. She's big into organizing events and last year held the dinner where we met several admirals and 3 of the crew of the new USS Missouri! She also attended some things that were by invite only to a very select few.
