Thetwoj, All that I can tell you is that in the last 4 years, I have heard from moms that their kids went in "undesignated" and it worked out great. Send a message to "Molly" of Molly's Adopt A Sailor, one of her sons went in undesignated.

Ladies, I need your help. When my son went to MEPS to get his job assignment he was looking to get into the Sonar Program. While he was there, the officer in charge talked him into this "great program" called the Apprenticeship Program in which he could try the Sonar and the Electrical Programs both out and then decide which one he was more interested in. After everything was signed and I joined this group, I found out that infact he was going into the PACT program AKA Undesignated. Since then I've been inundated with red flag warnings that my son was tricked and that our recruiter lied to us and this program is terrible. His recruiter keeps telling me that it's fine and that the program has changed and my son would do exactly what they said he would do. Now he leaves in 2 weeks. I was at a party this past weekend and a friend who recently retired from the Navy was there and had the same reaction about this program as previous people. He said to stop my son from going and make them give him another job at MEPS. I'm so torn. Do I trust the Recruiter, or do I send my son off to a miserable 4 years of learning nothing? I'm beside myself. What would you do?

Oh and Sanmor congrats on the first place for the band's division yesterday at Washington. We did the same and got first place for our percussion section for our division.

I sit here today thinking about where I was a year. I was sitting on bleachers up at Great Lakes Naval Station watching my son graduate from boot camp. The emotions were high that day. The tears, the pride, the joy. I remember them all. Now it is a year later and I am still full of joy and pride for my son. He has met so many wonderful people and been to a couple of new places. The next few years are gonna be a great journey. I cannot wait to see how it works out. I am also sooo happy that I got the amazing opportunity to meet some of you gals and to have made soooo many new and wonderful friends. No one gets it like a Navy mom. You gals have been there through the ups and downs and will continue to be there for them all. Thank you a lot. I appreciate each and everyone of you gals. Have an amazingly wonderful day.

She got her orders!  Our ENS passed her NCLEX exam (nursing board exam) & got her orders.  She's off to the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.  She's SSOOO excited; that was her first choice of where to go.

I'm gonna help her with a dity move ... pray for us as we drive a 16' rental truck pulling a car on a dolly!!  lol  We leave Monday the 17th.  Exciting times!!

Woohoo! Got to chat with my corpsman yesterday. It was soo much fun talking with him. I had freaked him out since I was online at 2am our time. It was great to hear from him. I always love talking/chatting/texting with him. I miss him so much right now. He should be able to get some leave some time in November or December. Cannot wait to see when he gets to come home.
