In conjunction with the anniversary of the last day that U.S. Troops were on the ground in Vietnam, Veteran’s Affairs Secretary Robert A. McDonald has called for a day to honor those who have “borne the battle”, and to extend gratitude and appreciation to them and their families.
Over 9,000 organizations across America have joined with the Department of Defense as a Commemorative Partner to honor our Nation’s Vietnam Veterans, including all 88 Chapters of the State of Indiana, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. This commemoration includes nine million Americans, with approximately 7.2 million of them living today, and makes no distinction who served in-country, in-theater, or were stationed elsewhere during those 20 years, November 1, 1955 – May 15, 1975--- all answered the call of duty.
To show gratitude to Vietnam Veterans, the Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Commissioners of Hendricks County cordially invite Vietnam Veterans to join us.
When: Tuesday, March 22, 2016
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Where: Hendricks County Gov't Building
355 S Washington Street
Danville, IN 46122

A Proclamation will be presented by the Commissioners on behalf of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. A reception immediately follows.

indytina what is the PIR 4-15 Facebook page?
My son left on 2/23, but was put in the push division with the PIR date of 4/15. He's on ship 3, division 158.

My son left on 2/16 and I received his box yesterday, along with the form letter they send you.  Now, I received his address just two days after he left from his recruiter.  You might try that.  It was an emotional time receiving 'his' box yesterday.  I miss him!

Hoping I get my box today. I have read a lot of parents received their sailors package already. Feeling very jealous. My son left on the 17th. Can't wait for the address also, I have wrote 4 letters already.

I recieved the letter today!! And although he didnt send me a sweet note he was classical in his greeting to me..."Dear Ol' Greg"...you have to know the terrible Youtube series to get that but it made me laugh instead of cry! I feel so much better and I know emotions come and go and have the potential to rule me but tonight I choose happiness <3 He is graduating 04.08.16 an entire week earlier than I had expected.
