DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Donnita, I think that correct and current orders should be available to him via BUPERS (his online personnel matters). Tell him to check there and with his command -- then, whether he does or does not, stop worrying about it! This is one of those things that's between him and the Navy... Hugs! k.

OOPS! Forgot to add: please RSVP on the Events Calendar if you think you'll be there, so we know how many seats to tell the hostess. Thanks! k.

Happy day 08! Sailor hugs truly ARE the most wonderful thing... no need to get you a Christmas gift this year, huh?!

Gayle, congratulations to daughter! I know you'll worry about that old hurricane, but know that the Navy has excellent emergency procedures and plans -- she'll be safely cared for. I grew up in Houston and 99% of hurricanes are NOT like Katrina... just alot of wind and flooding. We'll keep her in our prayers! Hugs, k.

Poor Jim... Navy vs. Notre Dame; a true emotional dilema!

You have a right to be proud of your non-Navy son and to express that pride here! Family is family! Congrats to little brother! To study abroad is an honor and to enter and finish the 10km is nothing but an accomplishment! Congrats to the entire family including mom & dad!

We can all assume the worse when it comes to the Fort Hood incident, but since the shooter is one of the dead, only God knows. My first thought was a terrorist, but then I read that he was an officer...a major in the army, one of the members of the unit in the staging area to be sent overseas into combat, shooting at his own unit. These guys/gals think of their units as family...this officer was shooting his family. Surely 'they' can't plant a terrorist within the officer core of our own army???

It sounds like my sailor may finally get a ride for a couple of weeks sometime in the next month or so! But his leave (his shipmates are splitting 2 wk leave...1/2 get Christmas, 1/2 get New Year's) chit for after the holidays has not been approved! Hmmm! I guess we will be playing the traditional Navy hurry up and wait game.

Donnita, I swear the doctor told me I could never vacuum ever again, but my husband won't believe me... mean brute!
