Westies dinner group! My sister's rubber ducky...is a Desmoid Tumor...a muscular tumor...surgeon believes that she got it all, but had to dig deep into the muscle to remove. Exhausted but recovering at home. Thanks for all the prayers!

It generally depends on how many units, ships are graduating...if it is a large group they don't let extras in...I have seen a full house. My son was in the performing unit and the grads filled the entire floor...from end to end. The group from his unit that did not perform sat up in the balcony on the SE corner during the graduation. The recruits from the next performing unit sat in the SW balcony. Visiting Vets had the balance of the East balcony. And I am assuming that everyone else was family. I knew ahead of time that two guys from his unit did not have anyone coming...and two others had just one each. We did have 5 in our group, and got in with no problem, but we had a standby plan in place. I have also seen pixs where there was a lot of space up in the balcony on both ends. But as Navy Dad Mark says...you are pushing your luck bringing more than four individuals, especially if it is a large grad group. Space is limited and the fifth individual may get turned away. As a side note...be prepared to walk a good distance from the sign in center to the grad bldg.

Sus, Put your son's class # or PIR date in the 'Search Social Network' box at the top of this page, to find others with Sailors in the same class. Perhaps they'll have an unused pass they'd give you. Also know that the four passes guarantee seats in the floor bleachers, but other attendees may be seated on a "space available" basis (so an extra family member is likely to get in, but may not sit in the bleachers on the floor of the hall). Hugs! k.

Yes! Tonight's "Westies Dinner" was great! We had 12 in attendance, got to meet sailor Jason, his cute wife Allie, and his mom Vicky. He's a Culinary Specialist and we were fascinated with his stories of cooking for 3-1/2 years in the recent Bush White House!

We also got to meet MaggieDaniel's daughter Mary, who's in Naval ROTC at Texas A&M at Galveston (Gig 'Em)! She's a really sweet girl who loves shooting machine guns... but what makes her a little "nutty" is that she's got a MARINE for a boyfriend!

Lorraine brought her daughter, Rachel, for us to meet as well. And Donnita brought her guy, Chuck. If we keep having a turn-out like this, we'll need to find a bigger room (which we already have a lead on).

Big hugs to everyone who made it! k.

For those who haven't yet, please RSVP by clicking on "Indianapolis 'Westies' Dinner" on the Event Calendar in the right-hand column. That's just so we know what size table to ask for. Thanks! k.

Navy08, sounds like Texas during a bad summer! I have an "adopted" sailor in the sandbox right now & I've been sending him those single serving drink mixes that you pour into a 16-20oz bottle of water (cheap at Wal-Mart!). My brother said the water tastes horrible over there, and the Kool-Aid helps them stay hydrated.

Jax will feel like the Arctic after this! Hugs, k.
