Have a happy time, Mark! Tell your lovely wife to start the baking NOW and throw it in the freezer. My electric bill this month is going to be outrageous; I'm not sure I turned the oven off once! Take some pictures too. I'm posting mine today... Hugs! k.

Well, we put our Sailor on a plane back to Bangor this morning :-(
It rained all day, to match my mood.

But, we sent him home a couple of pounds heavier and with a tan... the rainy northwest and a submarine don't make for much sunshine! And I'm not complaining too loudly, because we had him for two weeks! I'm blessed indeed... but we moms are greedy when it comes to time with our children.

Here's an idea I though of AFTER he left... while your sailor is home, secretly mail a card to his base mailbox. Then, when he returns to base and gets his mail, there's an "I Love You" waiting for him! Thanks for being here with me during the happy times and the blue ones. Hugs, k.

Dawn, you might want to get an Ace bandage for your arms... I think I've got tennis elbow from hugging!

FYI for those of you not on Sub Moms... I picked up a Sailor on Monday at the airport!!! There are soda cans in his room and clothes on the floor, and I'm so happy about it! I've already baked TWO recipes of chocolate chip cookies!

He's flying to Texas tomorrow to see the grannies and aunties, plus go out with friends. Then he'll be back Monday morning for six days.

His sister had her "Ring Ceremony" at school and her wish since September was that her brother could present her senior class ring to her... well, her wish came true! He wore his uniform and she was so proud of him... it was hard to take the photo through the "waterworks" when she hugged him on stage in front of everyone. You could hear other high school girls saying, "Oh, how sweet!"

Hey! A photo of mine made the big time! There are 100 photos "featured" on the main page of N4M. Photo #4 is mine, taken of the frieze in the War Museum. I guess Nat'l Geographic will be contacting me next ;-) k.

Mark, go for it. I do not consider myself "THE" event planner for Indiana. In fact, on Saturday we almost exhausted my knowledge base of things to do around here :-D I'd love a reason to see more of the state! k.

Gee, everybody! I'm going to be able to live on all this praise for about three months! It was my pleasure. Actually, it was looking out for my OWN interests... I wanted to know more folks in Indiana. It's amazing that so many showed up and there wasn't one "rotten apple" in the whole barrel!

And since Jim, George, David, and Mark were such nice guys, I'm going to pester my hubby to show up at the next one. Unless Becky lobbies for that "trip-to-the-outlet-mall" idea... even I'M not that good a pesterer!

HUGS FOR EVERYONE, k.

The Indiana Spring Get-Together today was fantastic! We had 17 folks join us, plus the family of a retired sailor who joined us by coincidence at the USS INDIANAPOLIS memorial. Pictures of our day will be uploaded by several of us in the next few day... my photos may be found on my personal page, under "Spring Get-Together '09." I'm already looking forward to the next one... Hugs, k.

Karen, happy thoughts to you! The joy may be the same whether the son is getting out of Washington or Afghanistan, but YOU certainly are experiencing more RELIEF than I am!

I'll get to see my Sailor for about a week... but I'm not complaining (except about the cleaning that's ahead). I've got to stock up on roasts, potatoes, chocolate chips, ice cream, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Dr. Pepper!

It's great you'll be there, Mark! (Only, now I guess I have to put on makeup).

Kim, firstly, go get your supplies. You'll need a big box of tissues, a big box of chocolates, a stress doll dressed like the Secretary of the Navy, and a hammer...
