I don't know that I'd want my son and his girlfriend engaged in "hot hugging!"

Heck yeah, we got beds! I've got three empty queen-sized beds! Two are in our large finished basement (nice and warm down there, promise!) and one in my son's room (but everyone likes Navy decor, right?!).

Hmmmm... let's see, with you, girlfriend, and me all wanting hug-time, perhaps we can work out a 20-minute shift rotation since Andrew only has two arms. Would that be called "hot armming" (like "hot racking" only with arms)?!!

And Winona, you'd better start working out those arms and lips right now, or you may collapse from exhaustion trying to hug and kiss everyone at Christmas! (Wait, that might get you out of doing the dishes ;-D )

Some of you may have already read this in "Nuke Moms," but my son called today to tell us he advanced! He's now a Petty Officer 2nd class (also an E-5 and a MM2)! He's on the sub Alabama in Bangor, WA... this will be the 2nd Christmas without him, but we may go out in March for spring break. I try to be a brave mommy, but he's my "cuddly" one and I miss his hugs :-(

OK, enough wallowing... ;-) Looking forward to a get-together in February! ks.

Lori,
Got the message via email...and yes we definately need to have a get together and February sounds like a great time. I believe that Indy would be a central location...Seems like we have a number of moms in the Evansville area and quite a few in N. Indiana, and a handful in the middle. Greater Indy would be approx two hours for the majority. As far as a suggestion for Indy...I'm not from there, so hopefully someone else closer would be able to suggest some good alternatives. As a working mom...weekends would be better for me, but I would make the attempt for whatever the majority would like. If we wait till later in the spring we could picnic at a park or do a family day at the zoo.

Hi Hoosiers, Chris got his cammies today and he's pretty happy about it. He sent me the pic via his phone, and I love it. We leave in nine days for A school graduation. Funny thing, he told me with windchill it got down to 34 at night with windchill in Gulfport Mississippi. We are going to Missippi to bring him home for almost three weeks. Yaaaayyyyy! He's exited about going to Calfifornia for his next orders.

Phone calls are at the discretion of the RDCs. My son's RCDs were almost plain mean... Other than the arrival phone call and the call to tell me Battlestations was over, I only got ONE call. It was during week 5, for 20 minutes and he cried the whole time.

Where in Texas, Donnita? And congratulations!

Ooops! Forgot to mention that I feel like an "old-timer" since Sept 20 was my son's second anniversary in the Navy, and it seems most of you have new recruits or new sailors. I don't know much, but what I do I'm happy to share.

Hi, Ladies!
I'm new to Indiana (moved here from Texas in June), living in Avon, outside of Indy. My son's in Bangor, WA on the sub USS ALABAMA. Would like to hear from anyone nearby. I don't know anyone yet...

Roll Tide! (ALABAMA's motto)

Oh my goodness. The song only works on the page its posted on. Bummer. Hi everyone... Chris is doing alright in Gulport. He finally classed up, reached phase 2 and I had to send some clothes and shoes. His A school graduation is Nov 7 (tentative date for now), so I guess I'll be mapquesting Mississippi. I imagine I'll hit 65 South for a while. Chris wants to ride home with me for his leave after A school and not buy a plane ticket. Is there any truth to the statement that the Navy reimburses plane tickets for the Sailors and if so when and what for? If anyone knows? Thanks Hoosiers.
Anita
