Hello Hoosier moms!  I'm a newbie. My son will graduate from college on May 12, 2012, and start OCS Newport on June 17th.  What's funny is that some of our friends can't figure out why an Indiana farm boy would want to join the NAVY, of all the services!    He has a grandfather and two uncles who were sailors, but he has always been fascinated with submarines.  Alas, his recruiter told him that officer positions on subs were full right now, so he got his second choice, which was flight school. Go figure.  I should never have watched those videos on YouTube about Navy OCS.  It looks absolutely grueling.  I don't think I could put up with it, but my son assures me that he knows what he is getting into. I hope he gets through it.  Any words of encouragement from veteran OCS moms?

Hi everyone. Just got the site from hubby's recruiter or I would of been here 6 months ago. We are from Griffin and hubby leaves for Boot Camp on 4/9. He will be a Seabee and will be a Construction Electrician. He majored in Electrical Engineering in college and plans to put it to good use.

Marine_NavyMom - Yes, I have now joined those groups, I an found that I am wayyy behind in info.  I have got to catch up.  My son is in 12/125.  PIR date is 4/20.  I see there is a group that meets, I would love to be part of that.  I have been on the US NAvy and the Navy RTC site on Facebook, what other pages should I look at?  Thanks everyone!  I am so proud of my son.

Hi Everyone!  My son left on Feb. 22 for Boot Camp.  God my info packet and a short note this week!  His whole family is so proud of him.  I heard this was a great group to belong to, so here I am!

Where do Indiana families meet?  We could come to West side now that we're retired.  When do the Westies meet?
