NAVY WEEK UPDATE:

Monday (Aug 15) - Dinner in Avon; social time is moved to 6:00-6:30.  We'll have a buffet dinner beginning at 6:30.  We are to expect 10-12 Sailors, and perhaps one VIP.

Wednesday (Aug 17) - Lunch for Habitat Crew; at 11:30-12:30, we're serving lunch to 15 Sailors.  Location will be emailed to me next week.

Saturday (Aug 20) - Navy Family-Styled Picnic in Brownsburg; Sailors will be with us 11:45am - 3:45pm.  Packing party for Molly's followed by grilling and slow-pitch softball game.

STILL WAITING FOR: baseball ticket info for Tuesday, Aug 16.

Extending an invite to or Cinti neighbors, Cinti Navy week is having a breakfast for navy moms with guest speaker Rear Admiral Cruz and some other officers.  I need a count of who would want to attend.  I need information to confirm.  It is Thursday Sept 1 at 0745 at First Watch in Cincinnati.  If you want to attend let me know.

I am getting more information from Molly's Adopt a Sailor for the Aug. 20th packing party.  Quite excited!  Remember to start writing your cards of encouragement now, and if you have any younger kids at home who like to draw, keep them busy!  Nothing makes those deployed more happy than getting a "boatload" of hand written notes and cards decorated from the heart.  Right now, please go to your post office and ask for a small stack of the LARGE flat rate military boxes, customs forms and the sticky plastic holders for the customs forms.  Will also need priority mail tape or clear plastic tape.  Lots of stickers for cards and boxes.  I'll have the requests of what that month's group needs soon.

Can't wait to meet you at the packing party!

NAVY WEEK ACTIVITIES:  still in process... the Cmdr and her asst said THEY don't get the final schedule nailed down for another 2-3 weeks (talk about cutting it close?)!  FOR SURE:

1. Dinner on Monday night

2. Wreath ceremony Tues morning; Sailors at Indy Indians baseball Tues night (but SCRATCH the family tent; there's no swear-in)

3. Moms feed lunch to Sailors on Wednesday (bldg Habitat house)

4. Family Packing Party and Grill on Saturday (see below)

FOR FOLKS ACROSS THE STATE, WHO WANT TO BE HERE FOR NAVY WEEK:  We're planning a family-style day on Saturday, August 20.  Details aren't nailed in place, but will include a packing party (w/ sailors) for Molly's Adopt-a-Sailor, a grill out, and a friendly softball game with Sailors and local Little League youth.

Sunday is still open, although whatever we plan must be done by about 1:00pm because Sailors must return to bases.  If you have ideas, let me know.

IF YOU'RE COMING IN FROM OUT-OF-TOWN: Please tell me what events you'll be here for, so I make sure you have the info you need.  Also, tell me if you need somewhere to stay - we have a few folks with spare rooms.

I PROMISE TO KEEP EVERYTHING POSTED ON THE LINK MENTIONED ABOVE (JUST UNDER THE STATE FLAG).  CHECK THERE FOR THE MOST CURRENT INFO!  Thanks, k.
