Heather, Congratulations! It's your boyfriend, right? So glad to hear he hung in there and now is graduating! Like Mark said, if the PIR is this coming Friday, your parking pass, etc. should have already arrived. There would be some paperwork for you to list who would be there, also. Have you received the phone call saying he passed "Battlestations?" If not, that call is coming... be sure to tell him you need a parking pass!

If he's already passed BS, then he's allowed phone calls now... again, tell him what you need. Past that, the only other place you might turn for help would be the Public Affairs office in Great Lakes. I'm sorry not to have that number, but you should be able to find it by asking in your Bootcamp discusssion group. Let us know if you have trouble... Hugs! k.

Tsk Tsk Mark! I thought most of what Jim said to be about right! Although I have been away from boot camp about 2.5 years (seems like some of the procedures for PIR have changed since mine went through BC) and I have slept since then! The trick to driving is to get to base early and then stand around for forever!!! Yes I did drive although I stayed in a motel almost close enough to have walked to base, having been to GL a couple of times before BC for JROTC camps and knowing what my son wanted for the weekend (down time and his computer)!

Hello, I am a new navy for moms member. My son left this morning from his dads in Texas. I have not been that involved in his whole inlistment process and am afraid I will not have the info that I need. He has called me several times. twice last night from the hotel. once today and a text message 2 hours ago. He told me last night that he is supposed to call his dad so that he can let his recruiter know all is well. What can I do to stay involved, get info, and have address and other specifics for my son?

I guess only the military would make an IU grad attractive to a Purdue grad!
