Just got the Form Letter today!!!!! PIR is March 19th, much sooner than I expected!!! :D
Congrats! I think this is such an exciting time in our children's lives as well as ours.
When did he leave?
He left Jan 19th to do MEPS, and actually flew out Jan 20th and arrive in Great Lakes that evening.
Hello all...so excited to hear from my son..he sounded tired. (OK..i'm worrying already) He did say he loved the structure though. PIR 19 MAR 10. I too was surprised how early. My son left MEPS Jan 20 (arrived on the 19th) He was in DEP for a year. Held out for job he wanted and they also found a hernia (MEPS 08). So back home he came, surgery was December 08. So he was ready to go. Not sure how he will react when he finds out his little sisters girl scout troop adopted him as a pen-pal. lol He might get razzed for that one. I made the troop leader promise not to send cookies until A school. He is the first out of the nest...so it has been tough, my only son also. Can't wait for March.
So your son is also in Ship 11 Div 122? Welcome Aboard!!! I've been waiting for some other moms/loved ones to join our little discussion! I really was surprised, it was 1 week earlier than his recruiter estimated, but Im not complaining. :P I think its absolutely adorable that hes going to have so many pen pals!! and Im sure he won't mind one bit. I've heard stories from the other moms about guys in their sons divisions not getting any mail. I can't even imagine that. It seems like, mail is gold to them, its what keeps them motivated. My Mother in law is going through the same thing. 2 out of her 3 sons are in or going into bootcamp. My husband (the youngest) this month, and her second oldest (his brother) going in February. Only a few short weeks until they PIR. Im most looking forward to the " Im a Sailor" call they get to do after they complete Battlestations. Heard its pretty emotional.
So Im assuming you got your form letter, what did your son scribble on the bottom? :D
I hope I hear from my son soon because I miss him so much. I'm sure he's missing me, too. It's funny, he thought I was tough. Before he left for BC, I would ask him to bring me something, and he would stop and say, "please". I said that he better get to receiving orders - there will be no "please" or "thank you" from his RDCs. On the bottom of my form letter, my son wrote, "Miss ya mom. Hope to hear from you soon. It's gonna be tough, but I'll try my hardest. It's only the second day and it's not fun". Bless his heart!
What happened to this group and the comments?
Has it been deleted, because PIR is in two days?
Wondering where everyone went.
:)
Safe travels to all, and congratulations to our sailors and everyone who loves them.

Mikie
