Misery loves company . . . isn't that how the saying goes? I haven't received anything yet except for his box on Monday. My son's best friend left for bootcamp 3 weeks before he did. I spoke with his mom today and she was very reassuring. She said to expect a 4 minute call from him next Saturday the 11th. So now I'm hoping for that too! Hang in there everyone, those letters are coming! Have yours ready to mail out!

hi got my letter today !!!!!!!!! his PIR is 1/28 it feels wonderful to know his doing great :) :) :)

I haven't gotten anything but the box, too. I thought I read somewhere on here that they don't get to write during p-days. I felt like I got her box later than the others on here. Maybe the mail here in Ohio is just slow. : ( I've had some negative thoughts as to why I haven't heard anything from her, but I stop myself and try to only think good things...like she's busy, she's bonding, she's making friends, she's training, she's studying, she's marching. I don't know...what else?

Anyhow, I guess I feel a little better knowing I am not the only one who hasn't heard anything.

Anybody else in ship 11 that hasn't gotten their letter yet? Yes, I got his box but nothing else - trying not to be discouraged but thinking is it because they have some bad kids in their division and they weren't given the opportunity to fill out the form OR write a letter home this past Sunday? Do they not get writing time during p-days?

nathan's mom - I don't know about that but anybody want the spreadsheet, email me at pennyndoug@comcast.net and I'll forward the information. Just learned about The Navy Lodge (https://reservations.staydod.com/hotelSearch.do?action=View&pro...) and their rates are really great and it is right on base. 2Q beds with full kitchen is $65.00 per night.

Johnsmom Penny has a hotel spreadsheet lol RIGHT PENNY? she's done a lot of footwork ..she may be able to give you more info. She's the hotel queen :-)

I booked at the days inn. It seems like an okay hotel, I could not find one with any suites left, plus I used my wyndham hotel reward points. I had to book 2 queen beds. If anyone knows of a hotel that the rates are not above 70.00 a night for a suite please let me know. It would be nice to have a separate room from my youngest son. lol

So nice to hear about your letters. I hope everyone here posts details! I fully expect my son to write 1 line: "I don't know what to write.", aside from the form letter comments. Anyone else have a S.R. in SECF? And is the "chief" the same as the drill instructor? I wish I had a chart...
