Blondie, you best described my experience with menopause...I am 45 and am going on my 4th year with no period @ all.

The hot flashes still find me but not as often or as long as they were. I can not take hormones, I am a smoker so they could kill me.... (like the night sweats, hotflashes, bleeding like a stuck pig, raging temper, bouts of depression and loss of sleep won't) Hang in there Ang is does get better.

T-Lynn YAY for the call...it's awesome when they realize they still need us.

Blondie I am so thankful you keep us posted on Nick's progress, I continue to send prayers for him.

Navyblumom, glad your sailor made it safely

I know I am missing alot of posts, some of you women are soooo awesome @ replying and I guess my brain can't retain long enough to reply to all of you, btw another symptom of menopause.

When my son made his surprise entrance, he spent 3 hour with us, it was awesome, then he made his rounds to friends, came home we stayed up till 3am, I went to bed and he stayed up to go hunting. He spent the day in the woods, came home for an hour and left again to go Bowfishing, returned home @ 1:30 am and FINALLY went to bed.

I went to work and came home, still in bed....he was exhausted....one of his friends stopped by around 5:30 so he was up and @ it again.

He was here till around 5 last night, then off to the woods again, spent the night to hunt early this am...He is doing what he LOVES and that makes my heart feel good !!

On tuesday morning, I woke up, came down stairs to find his clothes drapped over the couch, his shoes in the middle of the floor and evidence of late night snacking....I laughed to myself....that used to piss me off...but it was a comforting sight :)

For all of you away from your sailors, my heart goes out to you, I really didn't expect to have mine home and even though he is, I totally know how you feel.

You ladies here are awesome, I am sooo addicted to reading about all of you...the good and the bad, it helps me stay focused on reality....I am not alone.

Hi

What I learned today on this site:

1. Navyblumom's sailor arrived safe and sound :)

2. Val - her sailor KNOWS Blondie's sailor. Yes my brain cells are sending"What If ..." ideas.   And please post a copy of that picture you will have taken please

3. Blondie is busy.  I believe I am now making the Navy Mom definition of busy to just say: " Blondie".

4. Kim  - I vote for 2 weeks.  But I am glad you did go and see the doc. So you were given the boot -sorry that came out wrong.  So you have the boot to wear :)

5. Ang- Bless that nosey niece of yours :)  And I like your Kid Fix idea.  Just don't get to frazzled - have some fun too.  Sorry I am no help in the cycle.  I just stopped. No flashes - no heavy times - just stopped.  I know I am weird wrong.

6.  So we all know now that we WANT Miss on her meds when we meet her.  Otherwise I guess we better have LOTS of chocolate on hand.

7.BADma - you being funkiest? No never crossed any of minds that about you :)

8. MarainneKT - how about some more gossip please. In other words I got nothing to tease you about.

9. Anti M - I will be checking out those prints and do take it easy. Fingers crossed that Larry can be home for Christmas.

Ok - it is gray skys here.  And a constant drizzle of rain.  With the added 100% humidity - a wonderful damp feeling day.  And no snow in the forecast.

Question:  I looked out and saw something about Maple Tree that made me stare.  It has new small red limbs.  I only see these red limbs in Spring.  We have been in the 40's of late.  So I am wondering if she is not in a Winter Sleep mode yet. Any thoughts and do you have any strange  events of nature in your areas.

Need to get along I too have a very "Blondie" day

 hugs

Blondie...there was no video ): . thanx for the updates on Nick and Heath. They have been in my prayers.

Ang....I am 48 and have the FUNKIEST cycles. My dr put me on  BC pills to straighten it out but all that did was make me tired ,puffy and CRANKY. I stopped taking them. I just deal with the mood shifts and weird cycles.I asked about a hysterectomy but he dr said insurance wouldn't pay unless it was a medical necessity, like anemia...which I am not.

navyblumom....my sailor LOVES Japan. He has been there since May.

AntiM...heal SOON!! I hope your Christmas is merry and pain free....actually I wish that for all Navy moms <3

Ang, I went through menopause at 35.  My Mom went through it early, so I was not shocked.   I had very heavy periods for over a year and right before my last one, I started three days before Thanksgiving, and continued until the 2nd week of January!  I really felt like I was dying, but didn't have time to go the Dr., when I did go, man did he ever fuss at me.   I had a couple more after, but nothing like that.  (I also carried a group of youth on a Youth Retreat to the Smokey Mtns. right after Christmas that year)!   I am on hormones, and take them faithfully, as the hot flashes and not sleeping were killing me.   My family likes me lots better when I take my pill.  My husband would drive to the ends of the earth to get my prescription filled!  LOL!

Navyblumom, happy your soon is there safe and sound, and I'm sure he will love it.   Happy you are better also...it is okay to cry whenever you need to, and you will have those days.  I talked to my son Tuesday night, and we talking about him being so far away from home at Christmas, and he said, "Mom, I miss yall more than you know, but I have been given an opportunity of a lifetime"!  I told him I knew that, and that I sure wouldn't hold him back from doing something that he loves for nothing.   But that we missed him, and were so proud of him, and I know you feel the same way about your son, as everyone on here feels that way about their Sailors!

AntiM, happy you are better!  Continue to take care of yourself, and don't get too fiesty!

Kim, take care of that toe and foot!  Hope it heals quickly for you and that you don't have to have anything further done to it.

navyblumom - Glad you heard from your son and that he arrived safely in Sasebo!

And I'm a lot better today.  Three days of bed rest, yay.  Hubby cleaned up the main living room in case of guests, but the upstairs front room is a disaster.  He's off to deliver steel, I might get him back for Christmas, might not.  But my nephew will be home for a few days. LOL, he's already on leave, but went to his GFs place in another state.

Comment by Anti M on December 21, 2011 at 10:04am

Kim, here's hoping your toe and foot heal up fast!

Ang, I'm 54 and I still haven't gone through menopause, but my periods are getting heavier. I've had hot flashes, but that was tamoxifen (estrogen blocker) after the breast cancer.  Five years of that didn't throw me into menopause!  But yes, changing hormone levels can cause changing in flow, so you might be in peri-menopuase. Your mom may be right, if she went early, you might go early too.

My mom never told me when she went through, but I know she and HER mother were pregnant at the same time, which means my grandmother had my youngest aunt in her late 40s.

Comment by Kim on December 20, 2011 at 10:15pm

Went to the doctor today.  He thinks there is a break in the toe, a break in the foot and major ligament damage.  He could send me for xrays but the treatment would be the same either way.  I am in a boot cast now and able to walk better.  This is my toe that is curled and the joint swells.  If it isn't better in a month I have to go to the podiatrist.  He said she would only order her own xrays, mri or cat scan at that point.  I have to pay $50.00 for xrays and $100.00 for the other tests.  I will wear my boot and hope for the best.  If the doctor is wrong, it will only be 2 weeks, otherwise anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.

Thanks for the new about Heath and Nick.

About the knife conversation:  Phone the airlines and ask what the current policy is about checked luggage.  But, why would they take them?  If the sailor is not on a ship, I doubt they will have a accomodations with cooking facilities.
