@Navymom... hehe, real swords in Japan cost more than a car or a house.  But he can get some beautiful "samurai" sets at the NEX, and there are plenty of practice blades available.  But I'm waiting until he sees the handcrafted Japanese cooking knives!  Oh my, expensive as all heck, but the best knives in the world. I think I paid well over $150 for my sashimi knife, and that was before the dollar bottomed out!

On knives, my son said as long as he can shoe that the onives are for cooking he should have no problem. If for camping and such, they have to be stored with camping supplies. He said that no one in Japan can just have aj "undesugnated "knife. Japan law eversince a group of Japaneese "psychos"went on a random stabbing of people. Kinda like a no tolorance law in the schools because of the violence that has happened in schools.
Thanks fr Nick updates.
Huggs to all who are missing their sailors this Christmas. I bawled at church watching dil sng in the Christmas achoior. She worships so much like my son...sooo sweet. And I really am so hapoy for those of you with yours home, especially those of you suprised. That is so cool.

Ill have to tell Kaoikaikai my hanai son so sailor can get the most out of being there if he can. Going ti S.Korea either Feb or May. Hmmmmmm. Was going to post last noght but then my other son only 10 miles away called and he talked for a whole hour. He misses me lol! Took he dil and fdil and 3 little boys to see Christmas lights up his canyon...150,000 lights. Was fun. This little bous that fdil nannys were so quiet I told her that never happened with my two. Lol.
Have a great day all and Maggs. Hope your toe is doing better and huggs to you Anti- m. T-Lynn have you seen the walmart ad wth the singing cat? There is a turtle like Shark that the kids on the ad are trying to get to sing.
One more thing, if any of you have an opportunity to see Menopausal Musical, t is hilarious! Only 4 women and you will be laughing for an hour and a half.
Gotta get to work.

Anti M- Ya my son has some swords also but they are staying here. His brother already told him "You can't take those swords with you". He says once he is settled he will just buy some real ones. LOL He is not even taking any of his guitars. Said he would get buy a new one later.

MissMom, improving, but slowly.  Hubby went to Pocatello last night, and although he got back, it was really late, so he just stayed in the truck at the terminal.  I can get to the doc by bus today (the one to the hospital goes almost right bu the house).  The staples come out, so that's progress!

@Navymom, yeah, the barracks all have rules about blades, and not all of them have cooking facilities.  I have my nephew's decorative swords here until he finally gets settled. Should be soon, he's and EM2 now.  They have to be E-5 to live off base, and even that changes from base to base if there's tons of barracks rooms.

Okay T-Lynn and Katlanta, yall won't believe me, but that picture could really be me, except my hubby would break my neck himself!   I did one time put a dining room chair on my coffee table, then I put one of those 5-gallon popcorn tins on the dining room chair, trying to get a cob web down from the highest point of my ceiling.  I finally got a really long curtain rod, and put a sock on the end of it, and while standing on my "contraption" I still couldn't reach it, so I tossed the curtain rod up GENTLY, lost my balance, the curtain rod came straight down my neck and made a huge scrape, I fell on the floor, then curtain rod hit me in the top of the head.  I finally got up, nothing broken, just really bruised, knot on my head, and my neck looking like I had a huge hickey!  I was really sore for a few days, and everyone kept asking my husband if the kids spent the night at grandma's house, with my neck looking like it did!  My husband threatens to kill me himself when I start to do something that STUPID again...so no  I really didn't learn my lesson!  I am just one of those people that if you have something to do, just do whatever it takes to get it done.  LOL!

AntiM-  How are you feeling?  Hopefully better with everyday?  Is hubby still home helping you?  (I'm just full of questions tonight!)  :)

Tlynn thanks and we will make sure we get to go to the gate with him. His flight is very early in the morning. But we still have just over 2 more weeks before he leaves.

Anti M- I told him what you said and I think we will just box them up and send them once he gets situated. He is on shore duty so he won't have to live on a ship. But better save then sorry and not get them confiscated or him in trouble. He used to sell knives so he got himself a nice cooking set. And he likes to cook.

Good Blondie has set up the rounds - set up a second - we need it

Maggs I am sending a spell to help.

Hey Navymom - make sure you ask if you can sit at the gate with your son!  Just take your ID with and your son shows his military card.  This way you can have more time and it's nice to get more hugs .

When my son left he  stopped right before entering the walkway to the plane - turn and looks over at us and yells out -" by Mom and Dad love you".   Makes your heart jump and feel warm.

Big Cyber Hug NavyMom

Elaine - what a great story to share.  Makes us bust with pride.

MIss - you son really thought it out for the gifts. And our son too would call and we all open gifts over the phone.

Honest new mom s you will get through it - just cry if you want and even go hung something of theirs they left behind.  I carried and hugged this small Panda bear for a year.  And it is starting to appear that my son will not be home for Christmas.  This will be his 5th one in a row not home.  I know I had him for 3 weeks, but I am being a mom right now - and I am having one of those " Missing My Sailor's Blues" day.  I'll go do the dishes - that will help.

Blondie - funny :) and thanks for update on Nick.  Glad you did hear - even though it was only every 3ed to 4th word - you sailor :)

Anti M - how you doing?

Ok - need to get - no major gossip or pictures to share

Guess I ma just being dull.

Wish all a quiet and happy evening  hugs

@navymom, he can carry a knife set in his checked baggage.   He just can't take it on a ship!  Even the barracks have rules about knives, even kitchen knives.  He should ask his sponsor (I don't know what his living arrangements will be).
