Val, I am not sure what your employees do but how about "1 hour off" coupons.  Arrive late, leave early or 2 hour lunch?  Homemade is the cheapest.  I will be starting my peanut brittle soon.

A word about candles for sailors on ships or in barracks.  They are forbidden, open flame and all that, yes, even jar candles.  Even the plug in warmers are subject to safety rules, so find out first if your sailor is on a place they can use your gift of heated scents.

(Val, you set off you train of thought....)

I should ask my husband if he's going to make blue anchor and blue star candles this year;  I give them as gifts to Navy moms who want them.  We don't sell them, so no promises at this early date.

Val- If you make the nut and pretzel stuff you can make them ahead of time and freeze them. So It's not to much to do in one day.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for my son. He has to leave about noon today as that is when his ride is leaving. A navymom and dad who live in Pcola brought him home as there daughter is stationed here.

Val Navymom has some great ideas. My boss does the same. Our support services director gets squate tins about 3x3 and makes caramel and pours it nto the tins. Mmmmm I just use my finger or more appropriately er a spoon and just scoop it out. I really look as mucg forward to that as I do for the bonus check.

Val when I had employees I would bake some holiday cookies and a card. Most of mine appreciated the home cooked stuff. It takes a little time but saves in cost. I would wrap the box I used in xmas paper and cover with colored cellophane and a bow. One of the really easy things was chocolate or white chocolate dipped pretzels. I used the almond bark and small twisted pretzels and dipped them only half and set them on parchment/waxed/foil. The harden as soon as the stuff cools. Also used the almond bark and added nuts for nut clusters also very quick and they think you spend tons of time.

This is my sailor that will be going to Japan in January. Tommarrow is his 21st birthday and since he will be heading back to Pcola at noon we had his birthday cake and favorite meal to night. Made BBQ ribs and homemade mac and cheese along with his favorite cake Cheesecake. Searched the internet for a mac and cheese recipe and ended up using one that was on the noodle box. But used half velveeta half sharp cheddar cheese. It turned out great!

I like that idea Maggs.  Canada's is about giving thanks for a good harvest. It is the 2nd Monday in October, so it ends up being a weekend celebration.  Octoberfest is that month so there are festivals for that.

Ok, I didn't get my Thanksgiving question answered.  How did macaroni and cheese become part of thanksgiving?  I made yams for the first time this year.  I liked them.
