We took one of our daughter's dog also, still have him. guess he's ours now.  Lots of bills so would LOVE to give him back. LOL  We love him and it's easier on her.

Glad they're all settling in. My daughter (and us too)  Loved it there!

khryse, we've skyped them in. back in the day. LOL  Video call them should work.  For my daughter's wedding we bought a monkey stuffed animal (for Sailor, family joke) and took him everywhere with us, dress fittings, caterers, venue, florist.....and took pictures of him Enjoying himself and sent to her. She wasn't always available to video or call (almost never) she was in the Middle east at the time. we bought her a maid of honor dress had a picture and chair as her stand in. BUT she made it back and was present!!  What a surprise ! For my Son's wedding, 3 years later Same process . She was His Best Person (man). She was leaving the Middle East and heading to Japan that same month so not likely to make it to the states. Discussed postponing it. But The let her leave the ME early and come home. so She made the bachelor's  party and wedding.  We Lucked out in both.

Gotta go, work is busy as always. Taking off Saturday and Monday so fitting everyone in today!  Long, busy week with Month-ends and schedule, owner changes..... Can't wait to relax. well... After, mowing the yard, making my Dad's bathroom handicap accessible, picking and canning the garden, laundry, grocery shopping....!  I AM going out to eat with my sister Sat. at 1:00.  And hopefully a drink or 2 by the pond on Sunday, And hopefully Husband and dog snuggles sometime.

Enjoy your weekend, Navy Mom Hugs

@ Chergui53...No, went straight from airport to hotel, and then from there to base housing. They just couldn't leave the base with them. If they would have lived in town, then they would have had to be quarantined.

Thank you Mississippi Mom.  After our son finishes in Oki (rules say I can't say where he's going), but we might be caring for his dog another 2 years?  She's a lab and is 8 yrs old.  Not sure their life span?

Yikes, Wendy, can't believe your son took his dogs with him.  Did he have to keep them in quarantine until the government said they were healthy to integrate into the population?

Everyone have a restful Labor Day weekend.

Howdy Pan Moms!

My son is finally settling in at Yokusaka. He has some buddies there that he was in Nuke School with so I think that made it easier. He said he went through his first Typhoon and I laughed because we live in Texas and we have at least 1 a year, I explained that a Typhoon was just a hurricane spinning in the opposite direction LOL! He laughed! He said him and a buddy walked to Panda Express in the typhoon. When your hungry your hungry I guess! He sent me a picture of the Chilis menu and it had How to Eat a Fajita demonstration on the menu and we got a big kick out of it because if you live in Texas you are born knowing how to eat a fajita! It was good to talk to him and hear his voice. Miss that kid a bunch!

My oldest daughter is getting married in October and her and my son were close so she is a little bummed he won't be there, we all are but we know he is where he needs to be and we are super proud of him! Anyone have any ideas on how to have him be a part of the wedding without him physically being there or on the phone?

We are thinking of going to Japan next year some time. Has anyone been recently and have some travel tips?

Hugs and loves

My son took both his dogs with him to Oki. It was such a hassle especially in the summer. He was delayed over a week because he kept getting bumped off because it was too hot for the dogs. Ended up having to fly out of La. instead of San Diego so he would land at night when it was cooler.

Hello chergui53!  So sorry that your son had deal with this before deployment.

We did our part too, with our son's dogs.   He came home married, and she had a dog, so we still have one of his dogs.  The other one (Black Lab) passed away 2 years ago.  I still miss that dog every day.   My son says all of the time that Jack doesn't even think of him as his owner.  I tell him he's not, he is my dog now.   He a mixed conglomeration of many, but does have some Jack Russell, hence the name Jack!  He is something else.

I hope you all have a great Labor Day Weekend!  My begins shortly.  We close on Thursday afternoons, and we will be closed Friday and Monday!  No big plans other than trying to catch up at home and watch some college football with hubby!

T-Lynn- happy that Emma is feeling better!

Hi.

Haven't been on Navy For Moms in a long time.

Our son is an RN on Okinawa.  He's been there 1 yr...1 yr down, 1 yr to go.

It's been a rough year for him and us.  He just went through a divorce before he deployed.  We're doing our bit for our country and are serving as his dog sitters for 2 years.  LOL.

Thank you for having me on this board.

HI

 Just an update.

Emma came through like a trooper with her tonsils and adenoids out. And tubes in her ears.   Only the right ear gave her some problems.  the doctor stated the moment he put in that tube - that ear just drained of infection and mucus. So it was cleaned out.  Now she is home doing ok. Weekend was good - she even when to a winery to pick grapes.  but today - she woke up at 3 ish am. Saying her throat on the ride side and her right ear hurt.  So I had her home for the day.  She took a 3 hour nap! But she did wake up during her nap - well kinda - she was still asleep! She said her ear and throat hurt - right side. I asked to get her meds - but no.  She cuddled back down in my arms and feel hard asleep  She got up around 3:30 pm to Papa coming home from work and cuddled in his arms for a while.  Then she was fine - like nothin happened.  she is going to day care tomorrow. Maybe I will get stuff done!

Sailor news - Navy changed its mind Now he is going to Charlestown South Carolina. Not Japan. I give up.

Well, I need to split  hugs all

hey my gossip tank is low - check in ladies!
