Butter burgers? Hmmm, doesn't sound heart healthy, LOL. I can't criticize as I like chocolate-covered bacon.

The university programs were good when I was there, and with the internet, possibly much better now. Each base has an education office which can tell him about every program available, and what, if any, tuition help is there for them. The best advice will come straight from that office!

I had chiseled away at my degree for decades, I finally finished my first one through University of Maryland on base. I did wait until I was a dependent; I worked too much for classroom time. Which is why I speak bar Japanese and not academic Japanese.

BigDMom, I totally understand, I was "essential" once myself. He should talk to his COC (chain of command) and make sure they know he's about to lose days. Most commands don't like it when their sailors lose the days, very bad for morale. In fact, some ships insist sailors take leave. I hope he gets some days off soon!

BigDMom, they can carry up o 60 days, 75 if teh command does the paperwork. he really, really needs to take leave soon! They can lose leave days after two years, so I wonder about three years for him. He needs to take leave soon or lose it!

The timing may have changed since I was in. Hubby says he can sell it back, but there's a cap on that careerwise and it is only base pay. They can sell what they have on the books whn they get out, but it makes more sense to take terminal leave.

Utah fire conclave at our local event. Much better in person, you can't see the choreography in the video. the flaming unicycle in the flaming jumprope is way cool!

T-Lynn, white gas is Coleman stove fuel. Hubby and I are fuel masters for the Utah fire conclave (fire spinners and fire dancers). We provide the fuel station/safety for their big performance at Burning Man. The fire tools.toys use white gas because it is stable to store and transport and burns off well.

BigDMom ... leave varies by command, even by divisions within the command. It usually is NOT first come, first served. They look at who took leave last year or not, whose leave is about to be lost, who needs to travel and who has local family, and who they need on hand (not supposed to do that last one, really, but they sure do). The new guy often gets last pick of dates.
