Thanks Sandy. Now multiply that directness several times, toss in a few cuss words and raise the volume. That's what your kids got in boot camp!

Time served includes DEP for advancement. I think for the contractual time to be served it is from the day they swear in at MEPS and climb on the plane. Pretty sure. Boot camp and school do count, that's why rates with super-long schools must enlist for a few more years.

Sending Group Hug :)
This is what is special about this site Wendy - everyone REALLY does care. They care enough to question each other - challendge each other - and in the end always come together. Everyone get in line - start the hugs for Navy Dad - Me First! Hug. Oh Wendy - Navy Dad has alot of courage to be one this site with all of us ladies. To ease us into liking him - he sent a picture of a movie star that others say he looks like - George Clooney. Did that start a conversation on this site! I still think he looks more like Magnum - with more gray. Ok - who's next in sending hugs? TLynn

LOL Navy Dad, come out to Burning Man and you'll have more hugs than you know what to do with!

I'm watching Dancing with the Stars. I just love this show!

More compassion, check. Please don't post potential ship movements. If you would like more information on OPSEC, please ask.

Personally, I prefer authenticity. I'm direct, often concise and forthright. I think I will keep my personality, thank you. The Navy taught me many things, and tip-toeing when a straight up response would do was not one of those things. So shoot me.

And Wendy, I do apologize if I upset you. Don't take it personally, okay?

Thanks Navy dad, I didn't think I was being mean. I may be rough around the edges, but not mean. I wasn't jumping on her, Kathleen, there's nothing wrong with pointing out an OPSEC violation, ever. New moms need to learn too, and if we don't say hey, what did you mean, then how can they learn? Sorry you read it as so terrible.

Everyone relax, breath, and have a good group hug.

Wendy, it gets easier. Promise, we all have moments of sharing about our sailors.
So keep sharing. WE love to listen and share your joy. TLynn
PS Thanks Anit M :)

Oh Wendy, you can comment! You just have to get a feel for what is okay. If in doubt, don't post, but do join in discussions and ask questions. You'll get to know how to use vague terms and what the rules are. Don't be discouraged.

T-Lynn, I think you're alright because it was an already published photo and article. I was referring to Wendy's posting a DATE of a ship's movement.

wendy, this is far from a secure site, anyone in the world can read it, even this group. You just announced to the world when the ship departs. It may be common knowledge to you, but even so, it is irresponsible and dangerous to post such things. Please delete your post, and sak if anyone has kids on the upcoming deployment instead. I've not looked at your homepage, but I suspect since you didn't have the information, you may have made some unintentional errors.

OPSEC is Operational Security, keeping our troops safe from harm and those who would do them ill. To learn about it, read the blog and discussion linked here:

Thank you Anti M! I get so excited about what my son has done - my mouth and fingers get going without my mind. Anti M - GLida was very nice and placed a website for us to visit and I wanted to see this report. But I cannot get thorough. it's probably my fingers and keying, but are these reports private for military only? Just being a nosy Navy Mom and hoping for a picture/pictures of this inspection and possible a picture of my son receiving his Accommendation. It would be a great lift in spirits to his grandparents. All are in their 80's. Thank for keeping me on my toes. TLynn
