Good Day everyone!
BRAGGING Navy Mom here. My son caled and shared about the BIG inpsection his ship was going to have on the 22nd. His ship passed with flying colorss - actaully it is recorded as the best inpsection in the history of the base! ANd 8 sailors received speical Accommendation Ribbons and Medals - yep - my sailor was one of them. He is now enjoying 5 days off - he so hope that some tours would be available, but none were created. So I guess he is doing the next best thing - his laundry and taking naps. Maybe he will trat himself to a Sasebo Burger. Have a good day TLynn

Thank you. I had a feeling I was thinking along your statements, but not being military familiar - I really felt unsure. Just those Moommy jitters. Where you can't help you kid and you so want tooo. I'll share as soon as I hear from him how things went. Everyone - Happy First Day of Autumn. A wish of a full harvest of dreams coming true for all TLynn

Learn the phrase "attention to detail". That's the essence of any type of inspection, is everything being done 100% correctly?
Comment by Anti M on September 22, 2009 at 10:04am
T-Lynn, all depends on the inspection. It can include a personnel inspection, where they line up and their uniforms and grooming as given a sharp going over. The ship itself would be cleanliness and safety, down to the divisions' maintenance records on gear, and any paperwork which is normally on hand. We painted and scraped, but we also went over our manuals and SOPs to be certain they were up to speed. On a ship, every little thing is subject to scrutiny.

SOP = Standard Operating Procedure, often in notebook form, individualized to each ship/department/division/workcenter.

My world clock said it is 10:47 AM. So maybe it's 9 ish AM in Sasebo.
ANyway - I am wondering if that inspection is happneing. This is the big one!
Anti M - can you share? What are the inspectors inspecting? ANd Glida - if Ricky is cranky out those swet rolls he took a picture of - I can see why they love him at crank duty. Talk soon Terry PS Hi everyone :)
