While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Learn the phrase "attention to detail". That's the essence of any type of inspection, is everything being done 100% correctly?

T-Lynn, all depends on the inspection. It can include a personnel inspection, where they line up and their uniforms and grooming as given a sharp going over. The ship itself would be cleanliness and safety, down to the divisions' maintenance records on gear, and any paperwork which is normally on hand. We painted and scraped, but we also went over our manuals and SOPs to be certain they were up to speed. On a ship, every little thing is subject to scrutiny.
SOP = Standard Operating Procedure, often in notebook form, individualized to each ship/department/division/workcenter.

Just received an email from my son. He is fine, but nervous - his ship has the big inspection on teh Sept 22! I have all body parts that I can crossed. Wish him and his ship luck please. Have a good evening TLynn

Mmmm, burgers ... who posted the stuff on Sasebo burgers then? Big burgers with an egg? or was it a hot dog? for some reason I thought you'd been to Sasebo to visit your sailor, Mark. Will you get the chance?
MOS burgers is a Japanese chain. I was rather fond of them as when I got to japan, we didn't have any American chain fast food on base and MickyD was waaaay expensive off base. Actually, I ate in the base clubs during the work week, and since I lived off base, in funky tiny Japanese places like the locals. I didn't cook at home much, kitchens can be in the hall in the small apartments.
Beef... I'm very lucky, my acquired daughter's family has a ranch up in northern Utah, and she gets one or two calves a year from her cow. We pay feed and butchering, so we have half a cow in the freezer each year. I know the name of the cow it came from. This one was named "T-Bone".
