Cobra Gold ... when the US military and the Thai military get together in the Thai jungles for "exercises", call it training or war games. He went four years in a row when he was attached to a mobile secure communications "van". Each time he went for three to five weeks. They got to stay in hotels, but they also worked 12 hour or longer shifts. Joint exercises between the US and other nations aren't uncommon, and are needed to make sure we can work with our allies. The sailors usually enjoy it.

No blowgun competition, but he could nail a pingpong ball in mid-bounce. The other guys hated it when he did that!

How wonderful and exciting for your son! Did he get pictures? And thanks for the explanation too. Maybe that is who will be inspecting in Sasebo too. My son mentioned they were getting ready for an important person coming. Let you know, but again - congrats to your son ! T-lynn

Good Evening :)
So far the blow gun is just being a conversation piece in the corner of the room. But my son said that now his friends are asking for his broher to purchase them one. Now I have visions of visiting the ER. WE had a pleasent fourth - just stayed home and did some scrap booking. I am happy to say I was able to finish all the pages for my mother's Halloween Birthday Album. So it is ready to add more for this coming Halloween. And husband was able to paint his WWII German Cannon model too. Then a wonderful grill out between rain showers. But it did finally clear up and beautiful fireworks. What's the The Thailand for the Cobra Gold Joint Exercise? Is this like special events and your husband was in a blowgun competition? Waiting to hear please. And so glad Sandy that you saw/heard your son. Keep sharing. I have to leave and finish a letter to my sailor. Oh I forgot - I was able - with the instructions from NING and Ellie to delete the second Navy for Mom's homepage for myself.. Now I just have the one and (knock on wood) have had not one problem at alll. Have a great evening T-Lynn

LOL, mu hubby brought a blowgun back from Thailand, he's rather good with it. He used to go to Thailand for the Cobra Gold Joint Exercises. I never did tag along, I really should have!

Hi Everyone
Another beautiful evening here. My sailor called too! He sounded strong and tired. Something about the ship being inspected soon, so everyone is pulling extra hours clenaing - repairing - repainting - etc. I mentioned that his brother and his brother's friends - all so enjoy that blow gun. My sailor said: "oh good - I got one too." Naturally I know have visions of them playing with those things when he gets back. I am visioning an entire new living room set, because the old will be full of holes. It felt so good to hear his voice - hope all of you receive messages too. By the way, update about getting rid of the bad smell. My young friend did the following:
1. After wiping up - sprayed with an enzyme cleaner. Something made for pet odors.
2.Then made the baking soda/water paste - applies thickly and let dry - vaccum.
3. Place a wet towel over the area and tops with crushed charcoal.
Can report that the smell is less and at a state of being tolerated.
Gee - with all that - why not just used tomatoe juice ( like we did when the car hit the skunk ) But then I would be asking how to get rid of the stain. Glad i did not suggest the tomaote juice. I know all must be getting ready for the fourth. May it be a wonderful one and safe too. My you all hear from your sailors. And a prayer for those in combat. Let Freedom Ring! Hugs T-Lynn

Good Morning :),
Have a question. A friend called this morning, her 3 year old found a day old shake in the car and took a drink before she could stop her. You guessed - the little threw up. Ella is fine and being a perfect "Terrible Threes". My friend was able to clean up the mess, the problem - how do you get rid of the sour milk.vomit smell? I did the old fashion thing - soap, water - scrub brush - blow dry and air. But is there something better - that does not always get the smell out. T-Lynn

There are two Fuji climb pics in my album, one of me, and one of my hubby on the summit. You climb mostly at night. I got altitude sickness and didn't finish.

The fancy, slick laquered chopsticks with the pointy ends are by far the most difficult to use. The super-cheap disposables are the best for learning. I picked up a pack in the 100 Yen Shop, bamboo but reusable, and am still using them after 15 years! I do have fancy ones, but rarely use them. I even have long cooking chopsticks. The trick is to hold the bottom one tightly so it does not move, then use your thumb and index finger to move the top one.

We'll be in the high 90s today, but not much humidity. I may live in what looks like a green suburb, but this really is a desert after all.

Sssssh, don't tell anyone, I dislike sushi. Oh, not all, I like the rice footballs and the egg ones, but I never did take a liking for raw fish and sashimi.

Good Morning.
Todays weather is COLD. Over cast and COLD. I am talking geting out the fall clothing cold. Staci that stationary front of the "Big Huge BLow Dryer on high:: was here last week. Seven days ago, we were under a heat index warning. The actaully temp was 98 degress and heat index was 125 degress. I believe it lasted for 3 days. Now this? My father was an Earth Science Teacher. So as his southern relatives would say: " he was book smart, but morely he was nature smart" That means he could talk to nature or read all the signals from the type of clouds - wind directions - how the leaves were being blown - how the birds would sing and fly , - how the insects were behaving - etc. My grand parents would also plant by Natures signals and the Moon. So I try my best to listen to both the TV and Nauter. Moslty - Nature is better. Kim - my sons both love suchi. They made the mistake of sharing they were going out with friend one night to eat sushi. Gram asked what that was and her basic responds was " you'll get worms!" But thanks for the idea on how to get her to try the eat with the chopsticks. I'll just go to Cracker Barrel and get her a Fried catfish dinner. Anit M we will be waitng for you to dig up your pics. And I think you should write a book. A hand book for us Navy Moms and Dad. You have great advice - actaul knowledge of Navy life - plenty of pics and than all of us to proof read. And best of all - you can have a chapter of funny stories about sailors and their happenings and how their Navy Moms and Dad handle them! I'm willling to share - that blow gun story was a hoot. Navy Dad - how is the shrimp crackers? Need to go and do some crank duty ( Anti M don't forget a chapter on Navy Terms) I got my pick me up - two cups of coffee and visiting this site. Have an awesome day. T-Lynn
