Hi Everyone!
Becky please let us all know that your son arrives ok and that he too - is feeling better. I am feeling so much better. I open my email to four messages from my son! And he sent pictures! Have not seen a him since last Novemeber 08. He's not my baby - he now looks like a Navy Sailor on a Recruiting Poster! He is all muscle and smile. He wrote that he was on beach in Bali and a girl come up to him and asked him for his picture. So he said - OK and then 8 other girls ran up for a picture with him. He was shocked. Now I wasn't shocked, I know he is good looking. ( And this site ONLY has the best looking sailors in the entire Navy! ) It was so good to see his face. I sat at the computer and cried - how silly of me. I teared up and couldn't see the pictures. Need to run some errands - everyone have a wonderful weekend. ANd I know we will never forget those who this weekend honors. Blessing to all T-Lynn :)

Sometimes the military will charter commercial planes, so it is and isn't a military flight.

My son flew from JFK to Tokyo on American Airlines, then Japan airlines to Fukuoka. They flew him home from boot camp on American Airlines also. I think it is whatever is the cheapest.

I had some trouble with Skype when I was in Japan. I contacted them and they had me download the latest version. That helped.

Welcome Donnita. My son is in Sasebo on the Essex. It is a two hour plane ride south of Tokyo. The moms here are great and there are a couple of moms who have served and lived in Japan. They are a great resource and comfort to us. You should also join the site for your sons ship. They share alot.

Disney Sea? What's that? Sounds new and interesting.

I've been to Tokyo Disneyland quite a lot, in fact, for the Grand Opening, the 5 year anniversary, and the ten year anniversary! Country Bear Jamboree in Japanese is a hoot. Didn't understand most if it, but that wsn't the point.

Hi Donnita,
Yes, my son is stationed in Sasebo. He has been there since Oct 3rd. He has only been able to see some sights, his ship was out on many mini tours and now out for the Srping tour. He is hopeful of seeing more of the area sights when the ship returns ot home port of Sasebo. But I can share that you have come to the right N4M site to get answers and hugs when needed. These ladies are the best and they really care. I forgot, my son is on the USS Patriot. Does your son know his ship's name, whenhe arrives in Sesabo? Have a good day everyone. T-Lynn

I don't know if they still offer the service, but the Family Service Center used to translate contracts, or at least look them over.

A big move always causes stress. I've done it literally all my life and I still get wound up when we just go on vacation!

Anything you mess up can be corrected. Checklists are your friends, just pay attention to detail one thing at a time. Don't try to do it all at once. If you're really obsessing about it, set aside "worry time" to work on the travel prep, then give yourself a mental and physical break during the "No worries time". Yeah, it only works part of the time for me.

I loved Yokosuka, Japan is a friendly, polite and safe country. When I was there, the police didn't even carry guns!
