What is the card version of the passport? Can anyone get it? We travel to Canada several times a year. I keep our passports in the safe. I would love to have a card for my wallet.

I sent my son an email this morning that contained alot of love and support and questions about his passport, cell phone and packages. I just received a return email. It said "Hi mom!!!" grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. But I love him.

Carol and Julia -
So happy to hear that you are planning trips to see your salilors. I have been emailing my son about the need of the two different passports and he shared he already has them and the reason why for the need of both. ( Thanks Anitt and Melia) for sharing that information too And he said - as Kathleen shared - sailors can get the passports on base. Sorry, I don't knwo who to contact on a base - maybe Jessica would know? Have to share - received a an email from my son last night! I printed it out to keep rereading it. Have no idea when I will hear from him again. But this time in the email I could his voice and it was diffeerent. Proud - confident - grown up. Just wantting to share. Have a great day every one:) ! I have been bugging my son to get his passport for 2 years. He was already in the Navy when they put the restrictions on travelling out of the country. I have since gotten passports for the rest of the family. Currently, we need a passport to fly to Canada. Eventually, we will need one to drive there. Jonathan has a Canadian birth certificate but the navy made him denounce his Canadian citizenship to pass his security clearance when becoming an FC.
He took all that documentation with him. He needs his birth certificate and U.S. citizenship papers to get a passport. Does anyone know if there is a place on base for him to get that done? Security and passports requirements are changing all the time. I'm afraid one day his ship will pull into a foreign port and he will have to stay on the ship.

Wow, I am so exited for both of you. I am so jealous. Where are your son/daughter stationed. I can't figure out how to know when they will be there. Carol, I sent you a personal message because I realized you live down the street from where I work.

Spring and Autumn are very good times of year to visit. Winter is a little too cold, and summer is just too hot and humid

And it rains every season.

Good Morning :)!
We have a beautiful sunny and warm day. Wish the same for all. Anti, if you had not mentioned about the barge being in the picture - I would not have seen it. And Proud Texas Moms - thank you sharing that picture. Makes my day :). Have a good one. And please ladies - still keep teaching me. I am creating a note book - I have too many loose papers. talk later - Terry

I get so homesick when I see those cherry blossoms. That park overlooks the bay and Monkey Island. The ship you can see in the background is off base, it is a car hauler cargo ship. In August, they bring barges to the bay and have a giant fireworks competition over the water. Thousands of fireworks, business groups vie for the best display, one after another. Ninety minutes or more, right above your head! The base is the best place for viewing them. Spoiled me for stateside fireworks forever.

Jessica, can you explain to me what an Ombudsman does. I noticed on the web site for my sons ship that there was an ombudsman.

Look what you have done. You have started the book. A book of knowledge and caring. Not only for our sailors, but for us Navy Moms. I know I NEED this education, to know where to look and yes - those KEY words to type in. And I have never felt that anyone sharing this information has been impolite. What everyone has shared is needed. To have sources and key words to use -our sailors to LEARN to be self reliante and for us moms/families to know about possible dangerous situations and how a host coountry feels about US Military bases in their countries. As Melia shared onced with us. Please, continue to share and educate us. The better we moms become in this knowledge - the better we become for our sailors. I am resting easier - thank you Terry
