HI

 Happy New Year All.

1. !!!!! Congrats New Grandma Kim !!! He is so beautiful. The hospital sounds perfect and I think it was so nice that his CO came by.

2. Blondie - naturally you are busy. If you won't I would worry about you. I have heard that the flu is on teh move and how bad it is. Keep well dear friend. And congrats to daughter for getting in the reserves. Any updates on Jack?

3. Yea - I'm listing again. I hope this helps me remember all I want to  say.

4. Nolan looks so - SO big now. But he looks so confident on his new skis. Maybe the next Olympic Gold Skier?

5. Welcome aboard new moms. Glad you are here and already jumping into the water - that means - sharing about your self and sailor and any gossip you wish to share is awesome too. About that Version bill - Isn't there someone to call at Version to get that bill gone? I think showing papers that your sailor is on deployment is all that is needed. But fussing on this issue. Agree - NO car. Save money.

5. blm - the wedding picture is beautiful. But share stories please.

6. What a birthday surprise -  sailor home!!!!

Oh dear - I know I forgot something to say or comment about. Maybe my brain will kick in soon.

My son agrees with the comments about no one gets a car.  Even the civilian DoD people I know  that lived there for a year at a time did not get a car.  Bicycle yes.  Walk, commute, rent cabs.  Occasionally they would rent a car.

Agree with JoshMom - sailor has told me only to send disposal items - ESPECIALLY Cookies. Music-wise I did send his harmonica but other than that nada. As to the others car comments agree - sailor only knows one guy that has a car. Before deploying to Yokosuka the vets @ Pensacola told him - if anything 2-wheels - not 4.

M's mom, we went without a car for 9 years in Yokosuka. We had a Harley from New Car sales, two wheels is the way to go. We had bikes too, they are perfect on base.  Scooters are everywhere.

We were given a van the last year we year were there. Parking was impossible and we had to pay to junk it when we left.  No one in Japan needs a car unless they have little kids.

Joshmom, congrats on the reenlistment-he is doing well!

Blm-beautiful wedding!  Nice that is went so well-they look very happy.  gl at work-try not to overdo!

Blondie-that is the best news about reserves! Excited for her and you:)

Shelly, that is wonderful-what a great way to begin a new year:)

Welcome new moms. Hope everyone's getting better & happy to hear about phone calls, visits....
Anyone make new years resolutions?
I think I'll adopt my sister's- it's to go to at least one new place that she's never been to....I can do that!

My sailor purchased a car but you need permission from command. Then you need to get the right license, then insurance. And then my sailor was deployed so the car actually sits more than he drives it. Probably not the best thing to get. Better to save money.
Congratulations to the newlyweds and the new parents. Baby pics are adorable.
We are enjoying time with our sailor. The surprise for my Dad was the best. He said it was his best birthday ever. We had a great dinner and everyone loved all the stories my sailor shared about his experience in Japan. Soaking up the moments. I just look at him and smile. He is sitting on the sofa watching a football game with his Dad. And I am not crying, not one bit!
Happy New Year Hugs to all!

Michaels mom they can get a car but I believe you need to be e5. My son went without one until about 6 months ago when his wife and son came over for his last 6 months of being in Japan. Otherwise they can get around without one. His is still for sale if anyone has a sailor looking for one. It kinda looks like a Scion XB the square one.

I haven't heard of too many getting a car. According to my son he can get anywhere by train.

Oh Kim he's so precious!

and blm what a beautiful wedding!

Thank you both for sharing pics and congrats to everyone! Happy happy times!!!

Michael's mom - space on the ship is limited. I would love to send items to my son but he always tells me he doesn't have room. He finds room for all the food I send though LOL. I wouldn't suggest taking a guitar when he leaves for Japan but hopefully he'll find room for one once he gets settled in

What a beautiful campus and hospital.  They have the whole maternity (3rd floor) with staff to themselves.  They offer them one gourmet dinner.  Hers is free and his costs $5.00.  They were too tired last night and tonight we took him home for a nap.

The staff is great.  They have been giving them so much help, classes and instructions.  They even re-printed all their instructions in Japanese today.  You would think that a royal baby was just born.

You should have seen the look on my sons face when the Commanding Officer walked in to congratulate them and make sure that everything is fine.  He is a Colonel and a doctor so he had many questions and asked if they needed anything.

The view is outstanding.  As we drove around campus, I noticed that none of the houses had Christmas decorations but many had flags that said "Go Army Beat Navy".
