I pass the Biggest Klutz trophy on to you.  I was beginning to think that no one would take it off my hands.

Welcome mtnmom.  Most popular advice is:  Sailor will not need a passport to travel on orders (vacation home is orders), but we suggest they get one before leaving.  It is also a good idea to get a power of attorney to handle their business while they are out of the country.  Put their phone on military hold when they leave.  All providers will do it and they will turn it on and prorate the bill if they come home to visit.  Make sure they get long johns before they leave.  Go to your post office and get large flat rate boxes and custom forms.  You pay domestic prices to ship to FPO Box and there is a military discount for large.  Explain to your sailor that you will worry if you do not hear them them.  Someone over there will lend a phone or there are free calls at the USO.  They also need to email their email address and FPO address asap.  Jump in everyone, if I missed anything.

Tell us about your sailor and yourself.  We are a chatty group and get to know each other.  We don't leave.  My son is now stateside as a navy recruiter and is married to a girl from Japan.  They are expecting their first child Dec. 24th.  We are all here for you.

It was in the high 60's here today!  Felt like summer- going to feel like winter by the weekend.
Kim, oh to be young and brave.  Good advice to check into lodging.
Joshmom, yea! state quarter-finals-wow!  Is the game nearby or will you be traveling this weekend?  Good Luck!!!
Blondie, aww, hugs for everything-wish you could be dress shopping-I feel so bad for you.       And you fell! ouch! I'm so sorry things are not good for you right now.    Hang in there, something will give and it Will get better again.  Praying for a speedy recovery and , oh yes, Kim is right about work. Only so much you can do.

Blondie, I missed your post.  Prayers are going up for a speedy recovery. How did you dislocate a shoulder and elbow?  That takes talent.

Don't stress about work. It's not worth it.

Nice to hear from you Kim...."Far Reach Trail" I like the sound of that but I'm a country girl so to me it sounds like a really neat place!   Anxious for the little one to get here!

Well my sons football team won and are now District Champs and this Saturday they play in the state quarter finals - wish us luck!  I'm nervous about this one!!! Plus it's going to be very cold - even snow in our forecast...brrrrrr

This is for you Blondie: HUGS,HUGS,HUGS.  I haven't been active on here lately but read everything.  Your posts have me hurting for you.  Fellow Navy Mom, when you are down, we will carry you thru.  Hold on and we will hold your hand.  Let us help you thru this one as you have helped so many of us thru our troubles.

Happy belated birthday Blondie.

Prayers for all those involved in the car accidents.  That is always a scary thing.

Congrats Joshmom.  Sounds exciting.

My news:  My sailor (navy recruiter) accepted a transfer that was 40 miles away.  He has had to drive every day because he couldn't get out of his lease.  The navy will pay for his move and his lease must be broken if he is moved 50 miles.  He could have moved November 1st but they couldn't find a place.  They are finishing up the paperwork and are renting a house somewhere in the forest in Putnam Valley NY.  It will take 1/2 hour to get to the hospital at West Point to deliver the baby.  I have no idea of what the roads are like but their street is call Far Reach Trail.  Yikes!  I told him to look into lodging at West Point and head there at the first sign of labor.  I will post pictures later.
