Our weather has been the same up and down. More rain then snow, then it freezes. Oh well. Luckily our snow melted slowly, no flooding. And no major shoveling, I'm calling it a Win so far.
Miss and T-Lynn glad you got to see your Sailors! And everyone made it back safely. T-Lynn Sorry for your family's loss.
Henry's Mom, He'll need to get a phone over there, the base should have them. Yes, as a E5 he'll most likely live off base. My daughter was there for 3 years and LOVED it. We visited for 2 weeks and fell in Love with it also. Very Clean and Friendly.
Finally got all my decorations put away also. Had to we celebrated Christmas this past weekend with my kids and my siblings and Dad. Friday Hubby went and got Connor, Boy has he gotten BIG (tall). Big breakfast with daughter, SIL and 2 grandkids arriving and Hubby's sister. Dogs Loving all the attention! Lunch was with all my siblings and their families. 30 of us I think. Lots of noise! Came home around 4 and made supper for my Son and his girlfriend and Connor. Connor was asleep by 8pm. LOL Sunday morning Church, groceries, Lunch and then packed Connor up and took him to his Dads. Ended up taking them out for supper didn't get home until after 7pm.
Laundry, dishes, shower and bed. Monday came way to fast and early! Hubby didn't get home until after 8pm last night. Wonder what tonight will bring???? Dogs are all wired up, not sure what to think. Too many days at home and people in and out.
I think we're staying home this weekend.
Time to close up the clinic and do books so I can head home.
Night
Hi ladies! Trying to get to know you all by reading the posts. My son is due to land in Japan in a month or two. I am trying to understand things he will need to know.
He's shipping a computer to himself. I am wondering if the power is the same. 110V? or does he need a line conditioner? Does he need converters?
Will his US based phone work there? or should he just get one in japan? He's supposed to be there for 2-3 years. He's currently on my phone plan but we can get his suspended due to the stationing overseas if we want to- that's what I am trying to find out.
As an E5 he's under the impression he'll get an apartment. Would that be on base or off? He's headed to Atsugi NAS. Still trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas, which we will celebrate when he arrives here after his training....but don't want to load him down for his travels, so will likely ship anything he'll need.
Any ideas that you have will help me understand. He's been to Japan for a week layover while heading to Diego Garcia, loved it and is happy to be stationed there. I'm just trying to understand what we can get him to make his life there easier.
Thanks for your help.
T-Lynn, maybe your husband's boss can sign some paperwork after the pacemaker installation IF he's allowed to do so? Especially since he's the owner? A friend of mine just got one inserted and has been doing well after a bit of recovery. It's just not a fast one.
You are doing better than me with the removal of Christmas decorations. Mine are still up all over. My goal is to get them down by the end of the month, else they'll be Valentine's decor too.
Happy New Year!
Part 2
Now today - I had both grandkids - no school or day care. Then hubby gets home and shares that he will not be working for at least 2 weeks or longer. Why you ask? Because his boss went in for a check up on his heart and that boss was placed in the hospital ! Tomorrow that boss get a pacemaker! And that same boss forgot to sigh the paper work for Victor to sigh off on any work coming and going from teh business. So now work. And if that boss cannot come back to work - the boss is in his 80's - the boss's kids take over and the business is gone. Its Monday! Keep you posted on how things go.
Well, hugs all Happy New Year too
Happy New Year all.
I am glad you got a giggle Miss. I laugh too. But mostly my family just said: " Sounds like something you would do." and No More candles!" I just realized - no more candles - I won't age !! No candles on my birthday cake - I'm stuck at 67.
You are stating to sound like blondie - " Hurry and wait" and " I have to cook, decorate, work and get a nap in there somewhere". Take those naps and enjoy
Today has been busy here. And the weather is not nice. Damp, rain, and cold. so my knee hates me. It swelled up for therapy. And my right knee is doing totally copy sympathy pains. I am not kidding. It copies what the left does. Even pain at 11 pm and again at 2 o 3 AM. Trying hard to keep moving forward so the right one can be fixed too.
Sailor was hoe for his grandmother's Serrano's funeral.. Vic's mom passed quietly. then sailor had to fly back on that Wednesday when the computer had it hiccup all over the 48 states. His flight was delayed 4 hours - and when that flight finally reached the connecting flight - well that connecting flight took off as he was landing in the delayed flight. But the airlines said no worried - you are booked on the Friday 10:30 Pm flight. Sailor said no good. , so they then moved him to teh Thursady 1 PM flight. Sailor then took out his military ID. Airlines then stated he coudl be on stand by for a 7 PM flight. And if 5 persons did not show up - he could get on. HE GOT ON IT !! And his luggage made it too.
T-Lynn, you are going to have to start a book. It should start with your Thanksgiving Turkey story, and then add your burning napkin story. I am so thankful that you and your family are all okay, but I would be lying if I said that I didn't chuckle a little bit. You paint a very vivid picture and I could see you on the move with that new knee! I am also so very proud of you with all of that progress at therapy. You are a very driven person.
Blondie I was thinking of you and all of the Northern Navy Moms during all of that weather. It was 0 here in the South and with that wind, it was brutal. Hubs went to the shop and worked on Friday, I didn't get out of the garage. I was having to coax our little dog outside. I did visit my 2 aunts on Saturday and gave them Christmas happies. Our daughter flew in from Phoenix on Monday night about midnight. We had a long day, and the airport that she flies into so she can have a direct flight, is a 2 hour drive. We also got snow that day, so the roads were a little icy in places, but we made it fine. While she was home, it was non-stop, but we loved every minute of it. We took her back to the airport Friday. She had to be there at 5:30 a.m. After we got home, I had big plans, but hubs and I both ended up taking a 2 hour nap (something I never do), and then got up and worked a while in the house, hubs worked in the shop. He came in to rest and kicked back in the recliner and I did too, so we both took another nap. I think we were both just absolutely exhausted.
I worked Saturday taking down my tree, made a dent in the other decorations, but then the bowl games got me. I came home from church yesterday and worked a while taking down the rest of the decorations in the house, but decided it was too warm and pretty so I went outside and rolled up all of the extension cords, and got the decorations down from the front porch. All I lack on the outside is lights in the trees, and I can do that anytime. You can't see them from the street, so I am not worried about those. I did finish taking every thing down inside, just haven't got it all back to the basement. Hopefully I will get that done tonight. I am back at work today, and it has been one of those "hurry up and wait days". Most people took today as a holiday, so nobody else is working. We are making progress here, but it is slow.
Happy New Year to all!
Hi
Giggling Blondie - I can see you jumping up too. great ideas - a fog horn. Put it my my birthday list.
Yes, that was some weather - glad you too have things back to normal at your place. (Gee, did I really say back to normal at Blondies? Does any Pan Mom know what that is at Blondies? ) We hit 56 today !!! And this weekend going back down . Wow.
Hey Wish all a happy new Year too. hugs
We did lose water in Kitchen, boy was it COLD! Didn't get above Zero for 3 days and wind chills were minus 34. Hubby lost his TV, it just died no picture, then the sound went... Bought him a new one yesterday. Merry Christmas! I got a massage and went to the doctor, BP again. too much stress. Ex-Navy girl stranded in airport for 26 hours....But everyone SURVIVED.
Happy and Safe New Years to all
Ugg did it again! Wrote a long reply and lost it. hmmm
SO GLAD you're okay! What an experience. I did sit down but then Jumped back up. LOL Don't know how I thought I was gonna help you. I knew this was earlier and that you were fine but instinct kicked in. LOL Get yourself a fog horn! or intercom geez! Yes, fire walks, it also could have lost pieces as you walked, blown into your face, the whole basement could have gone up! SO GLAD, you don't know how Happy I am Everything turned out okay.
We were snowed in and blizzard conditions from last Thur. until Sunday. Hubby followed me home from work @ 7pm Thur. night and we stayed put! No plows all day Fri. couldn't see to plow. Sat. night just before Church they plowed BUT we were still on a Level 3 and it could blow back shut before we even made it to Church , leave alone back home. So we stayed put. Sun. they plowed us out and we made it to Christmas Mass. Today (Thur.) Our tempts. hit 52! WE are staying home this weekend too! Everyone is sick, snows melting, flooding....No way I'll stay in with Hubby. :)
part 2:
I walked 10 steps to the bathroom sink - with out stretched arms so my t-shirt would not catch fire. I walked without my cane too. I dropped that pile of flames into the sink and turned on the water. by the way - as I walking to the bathroom with fire - did you know fire can walk? I didn't until I saw it walk up my left index finger! Yes - walk - like with legs!!!
Now - hubby had heard me scream fire the second time and came running out of the storage room with a tin lid. He figured that scented candle I had burning had caught something on fire. So he was going to put it out! Except - he could not find any fire at all. That scented candle - I blew out. No smoke in teh room and no smoke detector going off. No burn marks on teh counter where the fire had been. And mostly - he didn't see me!
He finally heard me sigh and came to the bathroom door. and saw teh fire in teh sink and finished putting it out. Now I was not scared - I was angry - NO ONE HEARD ME ?
REALLY ?????
And the reason he didn't see me - as I turned into the bathroom - he came out of the storage room and ran pass me in the bathroom. Sounds like a comedy show I know, but it happened. We figured that one of teh napkins I was piling had touched that burning scented candle and it took off in a flash.
Now my finger - no redness - no burn - no blister. But I know it was burnt - I felt teh hurt ! So I soak my finger for hours in ice water. And after 5 hours of that - not even a mark on my fire. It was like it never happened.
Well, of any of you are thinking about gifts for me - marked scented candles off you list .
And who has teh next story?
chat later hugs
Hi
Made it back to the computer for some Me Time and yes, my gossip tank is low again. But Blondie - great start of filling it up!
Blondie - I am so glad you and hubby your weekend!. It sounded wonderful and best of all - I love how you cooked all those special things for your family Christmas! I have made a note to myself - copy Blondie's idea and go to Amish country to get baked goods - then go and purchase cheese balls and wine - but drink some wine first! Got it.
Christmas here was quiet and I was happy about that. I needed it to rest up for I am doing more now with my knee in therapy. I am happy to say - I am way ahead in doing motions than other replacement knee patients. All I can say - I was blessed and I say thank you. So now I am back to driving, grocery shopping and fingers crossed that my right knee can be done in February. Yes, that is early but that right knee is not hold well at times. But if I do get it done - I will have a match set!
Ok as I promised, please remember my words: I am ok and so is the house.
About 2 weekends before Christmas, my grandson was upset I did not put any decorations. And that was just wrong. So I gave in - he came down and help me decorate some. Well, it was now evening and I only had my nativity to put up. It is very special to me. My daddy purchased it for me at the Ben Franklin 5 and Dime. I was 7 years old and in second grade. Well, each statue I have for the set is wrapped in Christmas napkins because they are thicker and I felt safe for the statues to be in. I had the set up - unwrapping the each statue and when i had unwrapped the 10th one - suddenly there was this bright flash of light and I felt heat too.
Sit down now ladies- Iooked to the right to see the pile of napkins on fire! And the flames were about 15 inches high - and about 3 inches from the 60 year old carboard navtivity - with old fashion tinsel on it. I started screaming : "Help - help - fire Fire".
Ok - here is the scene - me screaming for help - smoke detector with the NEW batteries in it and I was almost right under it - didn't go off. Adult kids had invited friends over with their 2 kids. So Adult kids in kitchen - above me - laughing and talking - no they did not hear me. Why? The grandkids all 4 of them were louder than their parents. Hubby was in teh back storage and didn't hear me until the second time I screamed for help.
But by then - I realized - no one was coming. I heard the words: " Pick up teh pile of fire from underneath." So I did. I carried teh fire and burning napkins to the bathroom sink.
