part 2:

I walked 10 steps to the bathroom sink - with out stretched arms so my t-shirt would not catch fire. I walked without my cane too. I dropped that pile of flames into the sink and turned on the water. by the way - as I walking to the bathroom with fire - did you know fire can walk? I didn't until I saw it walk up my left index finger!  Yes - walk - like with legs!!!

Now - hubby had heard me scream fire the second time and came running out of the storage room with a tin lid.  He figured that scented candle I had burning had caught something on fire. So he was going to put it out! Except - he could not find any fire at all. That scented candle - I blew out.  No smoke in teh room and no smoke detector going off.  No burn marks on teh counter where the fire had been. And mostly - he didn't see  me!

He finally heard me sigh and came to the bathroom door. and saw teh fire in teh sink and finished putting it out.  Now I was not scared - I was angry - NO ONE HEARD ME ?

REALLY ?????

And the reason he didn't see me - as I turned into the bathroom - he came out of the storage room and ran pass me in the bathroom.  Sounds like a comedy show I know, but it happened.  We figured that one of teh napkins I was piling had touched that burning scented candle and it took off in a flash.

Now my finger - no redness - no burn - no blister.  But I know it was burnt - I felt teh hurt !  So I soak my finger for hours in ice water. And after 5 hours of that - not even a mark on my fire. It was like it never happened.

Well, of any of you are thinking about gifts for me - marked scented candles off you list .

And who has teh next story?

chat later hugs

Hi

Made it back to the computer for some Me Time and yes, my gossip tank is low again.  But Blondie - great start of filling it up!

Blondie - I am so glad you and hubby your weekend!.  It sounded wonderful and best of all - I love how you cooked all those special things for your family Christmas!  I have made a note to myself - copy Blondie's idea and go to Amish country to get baked goods - then go and purchase cheese balls and wine - but drink some wine first!  Got it.

Christmas here was quiet and I was happy about that. I needed it to rest up for I am doing more now with my knee in therapy. I am happy to say - I am way ahead in doing motions than other replacement knee patients. All I can say  - I was blessed and I say thank you.  So now I am back to driving, grocery shopping and fingers crossed that my right knee can be done in February. Yes, that is early but that right knee is not hold well at times.  But if I do get it done - I will have a match set!

Ok as I promised, please remember my words: I am ok and so is the house.

About 2 weekends before Christmas, my grandson was upset I did not put any decorations. And that was just wrong.  So I gave in - he came down and help me decorate some. Well, it was now evening and I only had my nativity to put up.  It is very special to me.  My daddy purchased it for me at the Ben Franklin 5 and Dime. I was 7 years old and in second grade.   Well, each statue I have for the set is wrapped in Christmas napkins because they are thicker and I felt safe for the statues to be in.  I had the set up - unwrapping the each statue and when i had unwrapped the 10th one - suddenly there was this bright flash of light and I felt heat too.

Sit down now ladies- Iooked to the right to see the pile of napkins on fire! And the flames were about 15 inches high - and about 3 inches from the 60 year old carboard navtivity - with old fashion tinsel on it.  I started screaming : "Help - help - fire Fire".

Ok - here is the scene - me screaming for help - smoke detector with the NEW batteries in it and I was almost right under it - didn't go off.  Adult kids had invited friends over with their 2 kids.  So Adult kids in kitchen - above me - laughing and talking - no they  did not hear me.  Why?  The grandkids all 4 of them were louder than their parents.  Hubby was in teh back storage and didn't hear me until the second time I screamed for help.

But by then - I realized - no one was coming.   I heard the words: " Pick up teh pile of fire from underneath." So I did. I carried teh fire and burning napkins to the bathroom sink.

So enjoyed catching up and meeting new friends!  Welcome to all the newbies!  Prayers for all those who are in need, ya all always in my thoughts and prayers.  Happy dance for all those seeing their sailors and/or spending time with family.

I've been pretty stressed and tuckered out since the 1st of Nov. BUT I Survived!  Nov. 22-27th was the Longest but went the quickest!  Worked the 22nd until 6:00 pm then Trip to St. Louis MI to Texas and back to Ohio. Worked 5 long days. Did month ends and opened up Dec. and drove back to Columbus for the weekend.  Then worked a 6day week, 10-11hour days and on Sat. after work threw a Birthday Party for my 2nd son. (his birthday was in Nov.) Hubby ran to the store for me or it'd never would have happened! Hubby working long hours and weeks also as his boss was out of state for a family emergency. Then another busy week for the both of us, busy at our clinic and hubby trying to get concrete poured and roofs dried in, siding on...all before weather stops them.

This past weekend was our couple get-away and Boy did we need it!  Went to Amish country for their Holiday Special. Had a Great, relaxing time!!!  Started out Sat. morning at the Pine Tree Barn, A restored 25,000 square foot historic barn home to award-winning shopping and dining overlooking the beautiful Killbuck Valley, lakes and 100-ace family Christmas tree farm.  Onto BayLobster Cafe and Fish Market for lunch, Yum!  scallops, crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese.  Skipped the wineries ran out of time. drove another hour checked into our inn (now it's 2:00), Everything in Amish country closes at 5pm on Saturdays and doesn't open on Sundays. :(  but only time we had to go.  Did some shopping and scavenger hunts, ate at Mrs. Yoder's smorgasbord. Wonderful food!  Then ended the evening at Han's Place Winery, a country bar with live music and lots of wine!  Did a couple flights, I mean we were at a winery. Brought some home too! LOL  Sunday was Church and another smorgasbord this time breakfast, no one goes hungry in Amish Country!  Then drove 2 hours back home to Husband's Family Christmas, missed lunch but we brought dessert - Amish pies and cookies (yes, I took the easy way out)! Then onto my family's Christmas, well half of them, other half will be Christmas day.  Took wine and cheese balls with crackers/breads (again from Amish country).  I told husband easiest cooking I ever did LOL.  Laundry and bed. Up at 5:30 and at work by 7:30 and my Crazy day/week began. Everyone wants in before their deductible reset on Jan. 1st. or seeing our Nutritionist for stocking stuffers or just to stay healthy with holiday/winter season., buying gift certificates for our massage therapist who is booked until next April. We are closed the 23rd-26th so I'll rest up then, yeah right!

Well, this is way too long and we're busy it's taken forever to write this, too many interruptions but I am at work. So will try to get back later this week.

NavyMom Hugs to all

Hi

Talk about answering a Roll Call !!!  Thank you.

And yes, I actually had to get a second gossip tank. If I hadn't, I would not have all the gossip from Chris.

Chris you are so right for this group!

Miss !!!!!! Are you trying to join the Energizer Bunny club? First off - hugs for the loss of your Boss. Gentle hugs to his family. But you are back to being you - busy and fun.

Kim !!!!! So good to hear from you.  And vibes feel good about your son.  I have seen alot of Pink Flamingoes of late - naturally I thought of you. You being here must have been the sign i would hear from you. Good .

Blondie out there?

Well Chris, you fit in. Looking forward to hearing more from you too.

Welcome Aboard henry's Mom.  Just jump in the water - like Chris did and enjoy .

Sorry this is choppy, I still get tired. Especially because grandson just had to bring the flu from school. And yes, I got it. Kncock me on my backside for 3 days - but I still doing my required exercises. Now I have some new ones.

Jake wanted me to lift my leg straight up and point and flex with my tie. I was told this would be so hard. And then Jake handed me over to his assistant he is training. The next thing I heard was from the assistant of : "Jake?'.  Jake looks up and goes:  "Ok , give we need a new plan". I had my leg straight - up - flexing ankle and toes and was just 6 inches away from touching the wall behind me. And calmly said; " like this?".  Basic dance exercise. Did i say PTs was fun?  If not , I am having fun.

But I have to get ready for grandson coming from school, finish dinner, change clothes to go see Jake.

But the next time I get on, I'll share what I did. I will leave you with these words: " I am OK and so is the house".

Hugs

cont'd...I had to cut and paste the remainder of my life story, didn't realize I went over 4000 characters!----

My daughter is in a seemingly good relationship now. She is twice divorced after those 2 decided to show their true colors. Still working on herself, but has come a loooong way--so proud if her. I guess I still step over her boundaries sometimes, but she's actually teaching me how to set some! These new generations and their thought processes confuse me sometimes! I'm old enough to just figure either deal straight out with it or let it go. No need to play games. She and her Dad both enjoy riding motorcycles, so they, and her new beau, get out to do that as often as they can. It is really dangerous here in Jacksonville on bikes, so sometimes I go and sometimes I stay at home. If I ever saw an accident involving her, I don't know what I would do.

Got to see my 4 yr old grandson for a couple of days in mid Nov. We all met in W NC Mts for a long weekend. He only gets to see us once or twice a year, so most of the visit is reintroducing. As he gets older, hope this changes. If we don't go N, we don't get to see him. I know it is their life, but when my kids were small, my husband and I made the effort, to get the kids to grandparents as much as the other way, so I am heartbroken it is only 1 way here. But I am glad my other 2 don't have kids. This world is a basket case.

Mom will have been living with us for 2 years this coming March. All is well! lol  So may told us not to do it, but I really love having her here to talk to and be around. I was Army as well as my husband, and we have always lived away from family, and sorta isolated ourselves/stayed independent. (Again, we were the family that travelled to see relatives until my husband put his foot down and said he wanted our family vacation, not our vacations being spent going  to see relatives.) And I wished we had done it sooner!! The roads go both ways, so if family want to see us, they can come down as easily as we can travel up.

But all are healthy here and still glad to get together! As I said, my life is pretty boring, working in the operating room 3 days a week, and splitting the remainder of the week with chores, doctor appointments and trying to camp in our popup when we steal away. Hubby and I took 2 weeks to SD for our anniversary. Black Hills, Crazy Horse, Badlands....all the touristy stuff and had a blast.

Stay warm, stay safe and if ever there is a plan to get together, please post it. If at all possible, I would love to meet y'all. We had a small group in NC of Navy Mom's that got together a couple times a year, and that was amazing!

I am in Jacksonville FL if anyone gets this way! I'll try to post pics form my son's visit.

Hello All--this is the most crazy, fun, energetic and fabulous group of ladies I have ever had the pleasure of knowing!! I don't post much but follow and love reading about your lives. Mine is boring in comparison, but don't want it any of the way.

I was able to see my son a few months ago as he and about 60 others escorted a fellow Sailor's remains back to his home. He had dies in an accident, not military action, however that did not matter. I was unaware of the Seals program (?) to send a lot of fellow military buddies home with the deceased to honor him and his family. I don't know all of what went on, but there were several celebrations with the military guys and the family. I don't know all of what went on, but my son't friend had photos of the casket after the seals had all pounded their tridents onto the top so they could all remain a part of each other (as I understand it). It was amazing to see the brotherhood in action. I sit here tearing up just thinking about it, and hoping I never see any of this fellas in this capacity at my home. I know it had to make the fallen sailor's family  proud and I certainly hope it helped in the grieving process. Gold Star is a strong family unit.

Back to happier thoughts!--my savior will be home for Christmas! He is coming after a long TDY before returning to base. I'm finally getting him to send pics (with him in them) more often! Already 12 years since he left for bootcamp. DANG!He's letting his hair grow out a bit recently. He's had a buzz cut since 2nd grade--now has about 3" in length, and cut in a modern style. I'm hoping to go to HI to see his place in March--got refundable tix  just in case the Navy decides I don't need to see him that soon again.

Henry's Mom and all:

Amazon will now ship directly to FPO boxes.  It is well worth the Prime fee to be able to ship during deployment or when stationed overseas.  During my sailors last deployment I shipped him a jar of peanut butter one day and a bag of nuts the next.  I used to have box that I filled with goodies once a month and paid the USPS flat rate discounted for military.  It used to be $11.50 per month.  Now it is around $20.00.

Hello to all my Japan Moms!   Welcome Henry's Mom!  You have found a great group of ladies, jump on when you have a moment and keep us updated.

It has been a while for me, lots of things have happened in my life.   My boss passed away suddenly on November 22, and my life has been absolutely crazy since then.   He had hernia surgery on November 8, and just had not bounced back from that.   The surgeon told his wife, that while in surgery he saw something in his abdomen that was concerning and he had biopsied it and would give her the results at his follow up appointment.  She took him back on the 21st, and he told her that his entire abdomen was basically covered in cancer and he was in the final stages.  Yes, it was an huge shock!!  She called me that afternoon and I about fell out of my chair.   She said she was lining up hospice care for him.  She called me early the next morning on the 22nd and told me he passed away shortly after midnight.   It has been very devastating to say the least.   I am still working, we are trying to tie up loose ends here at the office, and nothing is fast when you are dealing with the judicial system.   I am thinking I will be here at least until the end of January, as I have 1099's that I have to mail on every real estate transaction that we have closed.  We also are trying figure out what to do with files in the office, and everything else that is here.   Her son and daughter-in-law are still here with her, and helping her with so much.

I trying to get my Christmas decorations out.  It took me 3 days (working on and off) to get my tree up!  Y'all, I have never dragged that task out that long!  It was sitting in the middle of the floor, so hubby was ready for me to wind that job up.   I still lack a few more little things, and he keeps telling me "what goes up, must come down"!  I know that and I will be so aggravated at myself for doing this much when I am taking it down.  Once I get started, I just don't have good sense! LOL!  I got up this morning at 4:00 and worked on it until I had to get ready for work.  I hope I wind it all up this afternoon when I get home.

I hope you all are doing well, we are good.  Hubby is busy with 2 kitchens and he is about to wind them both up.  He has another one that he has to draw out and then meet with the folks to make sure that he has it like they want.  Since he talked to her she has added several more things.  I tell him that is what women do!

T-Lynn, I hope you are doing great.  Sounds like you are, especially with the cute therapist! LOL!  Don't get too froggy and overdo it.

Kim, so thankful the new dot disappeared, and happy you had your sons home for Thanksgiving.  I love that you saved those sweet notes.  I have saved everything of my kiddos.  They don't want it and will probably trash it all when the time comes.

T-Lynn, maybe this will hold you for a little while!

Take care and stay safe to each of you.

Good Morning Ladies.

Welcome Henry's Mom. Your son will love Japan.  As an E5 he is a seasoned sailor so I am sure he know many things about travelling.  He will find a cell phone and plan in Japan and you can use many application like WhatsAPP for free phone calls and texts.  We have a rule here that no one can leave and you must share gossip about yourself and your sailor (just kidding).  We are a fun group of ladies.  Ask any questions.  We are here to help.

I have been MIA since the summer but reading all posts.  We had a scare this summer.  They saw a new dot in my sons MRI.  For those new, my youngest is a 5 year survivor of brain cancer.  Two months later it disappeared.  We go again in January to confirm that it is nothing new.  All of my sons including my sailor and family was able to visit for Thanksgiving.  My grandson is getting big.  He found a pad of paper and tape in my office and proceeded to post notes all over the house.  I took them down with care and placed them in a box in my closet.  My husband thinks I'm nuts but I will re-read them one day when I am missing them.

I think T-Lynn will be dancing with Jake soon!  I suggest to skip the twist.  Blondie, what a great idea to book a trip with hubbie.  My kids are doing their own thing this Christmas and I was thinking of the same thing.

Any Suggestions ladies?

Comment by Henry's Mom on December 4, 2022 at 11:53pm

Hello ladies.  I joined this page because my sailor son is about to get shipped to Atsugi NAS and I was looking for folks whose sailors were stationed there.  Or to help me understand what life for him will be like when he gets there in Feb.  He'll be there 3 years and we aren't expecting him to visit until he's done there due to the cost of the travel.

What should we expect? Anything?  He's E5 Master at Arms.

Thanks
