Hi everyone my son is in Yokokusa Japan and he wrote me saying he's having a hard time sleeping and weird headaches and just plain ole tired he's been there about 1 month and he said he can't adjust to the sleeping, etc. said he went to see the doctor and they suggest a sleep vitamin with Malabo,in or something. And said he should get more rest, said his performance is not up to par. Is this normal for the kids going to Japan? I'm just a bit worried about him. Also they said something about culture shock and he probably needs a bike to get around Japan. Does anyone know if I can buy a bike online. Over there and have it shipped to his apartment? Or maybe pay for it here and he pick it up at a store there? Also he's using his cell phone and it so much per minute when they said he could purchase an international SIM card and just pay maybe 40 bucks a month and call all the time HELP!! Does anyone know about these things
Thank you

Need some advise.

Very frustrated with our town. Our Veterans agent only seems to care about funerals for veterans not serving current vets and active service members.

I started a conversation with a National Guard Commander that lives in town about organizing a "Potluck" gathering for these vet/service members maybe after our Memorial Day parade. Have any of you organized events like this and do you have any suggestions ?

Had to share this - I posted this MEM on my Facebook page (also wanted to share you my selfless NavyMom friend) .... anyway my HIGH SCHOOL boyfriend wrote in that he regretted that he had never been there for me, though I was always there for him. WOW.

HI

Funny Maggs. but I know Angel is not laughing. Any more nature pictures?

Blondie, now my mouth is really watering. Can you buy this jam in stores?

Nice hearing from you mntmom. sounds like your weekend was fun.

Care packages are fun to make. Sometimes we sent t-shirts and things with the home towns name on it. What my sailor really enjoyed - post cards/ letters / emails and even presents from the pet Turtle. Pets miss them too.

Weekend has been fun. It feels like Fall ! Halloween is never to early to decorate.  I even has started purchasing candy. I will be ready !!

Need to get - company coming over.

Hey - kim - you sound upbeat and calm. Good

hugs all

Hi Ladies---

How is everyone?  Haven't been on in quite a while.  I can't believe that summer is almost over.  Hope everyone had a great summer, two of my four grandchildren (2 of my daughter's four) spent a long weekend in JUly with me, we had a ball.  We went to Bass Lake for dinner, and got into the worst thunderstorm.  It compared to some I've seen in Texas.

My sailor returned from a 9 week underway in August, and I swear that I heard from him more when they were out.  I know that part of the problem is the 17 hour time difference.  He texted one weekend that he missed me, and it made me cry.  6 years in the Navy, and I've seen/heard that 3 times, my heart broke.  He's really not good at communicating when he's in port.  I really miss him.  He's been in Japan for almost a year.  I'm not sure when I'll get to see him.  Only other military moms understand the missing, and overjoyous homecomings.

I had to read 11 pages to catch up with ya'll.  Everyone has been so busy.  My Blue Star group is heading into our busy time.  Tonight we are at a information booth at a local concert.  It will be fun.

Well I'd better scoot, everyone have a great weekend.

Jesusintheboat I too just sent a care package. I send things like his gaming magazines, unique candies and treats I find in the store, and cookies baked fresh sealed in a glad disposable container taped up. I send these yoohoo drink mixes he can mix in his water bottles.  He and his mates say I'm Angel, not sure bout that, but he sahres what I send and they all enjoy. they can get a lot of things there.
They will love anything you send. it's home.

I just mailed my son a care package yesterday. I decorated the inside flaps of the box to read: We O-"fish"-ally miss you
Inside box was goldfish, Swedish fish, tuna fish, gummy worms, Go-fish card game

I am relatively new to the Japan for moms but my son is there and will be for a couple of years.  I want to send him a care package and was wondering if anyone has ideas on things to send them. Are there things they need over there that they cannot get there.  Appreciate the input.
