SubGru7?  I spent more than a few hours working there, even though I was at another command (I worked on equipment not normally in subs, so they had no one officially trained to touch it).  I hope they have a new building, it was in pretty sad shape in my day.

If he is an E-4 or below, he can expect to have a room in the barracks.  Usually he gets his own room, with a shared bathroom.  The older barracks have two to a room.  E-5 can rent off base, which I did.  Loved it.

He will not need or want a car, but a bike with a good lock is perfect for on base.  He should get a civilian passport in case he wants to travel when not on orders.  MWR has some great tours, plus on base activities, and tickets to local events and venues.

Nancy-Aaron; my sons going to Japan as well he's going to Yokosuka Japan everyone says it's great. I'm excited for him that's where he wanted to go. And he got it. I will be bringing him home for Christmas leave and we will be talking and face timing a lot. Good luck with your sailor.

Cool, Maggs!

Blondie, my SIL used to have rental cabins in Hocking Hills. Such a lovely area!

I am off my feet, but the doc thinks I am lying about my foot pain because the MRI shows nothing.  I am confused and crushed, and angry, he actually used the word "lying".  Grr.
