New mom here.  My son just got verbal orders for Japan (what he was hoping for) so I guess as long as the written orders come through I have to get off the overseas denial train and hop on the Japan one.

Hi everyone!  Just checking in.  So much going on and it seems every time I sit down at my desk, something else comes up.

Welcome to all the new moms.  My sailor is in Atsugi with a squadron attached to the GW.

Happy Holidays to everyone!  Sounds like everyone had a Merry Christmas.

We have a big surprise coming on New Years eve!!  Let me explain.  12-31 is my dad's birthday.  A short time ago we were talking to our sailor about the holidays.  He put in for leave for Christmas but there were too many requests and his was denied.  Bummer.  But, he resubmitted for just after and GUESS WHAT!! HE IS COMING HOME ON NEW YEARS EVE!!!!!  It was his idea to make it a birthday present for his grandfather.  My husband & I have been beyond excited.  And keeping a secret from my parents.  You know the comments, Oh, we will miss the boy.  Wish he were home for Christmas and so on.  We had to nod our heads and say, yes he won't be here for Christmas.  Its been pure torture to keep this a secret.  The only reason I am telling everyone here is that my parents aren't on this site.  I can't mention a word on Facebook because my Mom is on there.  He hasn't been home for almost 2 years (20 months but who is counting).  We had to spend the weekend cleaning out "his" room, the guest room.  My husband has been using it to store car parts for the mustang he has been restoring.  It is now cleaned, freshened, sheets washed and ready for my baby!!!  Even one of our fur babies, Daisy, knows that something is up.  She was sitting on the bed with a look on her face that just said, she knows that he is coming home.  She bonded with him as a pup and he considers Daisy his.

Well, I will update everyone after the big party/reveal on Wednesday.  Hush, keep the secret!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

HI

Thank you. We are doing better each day.

Sorry Barb that the car needed repairs. Hope somehow they can still make it to see you.

Anti M - hope you are doing better.

Yes = putting away decorations. How come the pets seem to be able to get those delicate ones - when we put them in places we know they can't get too? Must be thatt Elf on teh Shelf helping them.

Isn't it great when they cal and everyone is there to talk !!!!

So gladyou had a good talk .

Gee - i was so hoping we would have heard some thing from Grandma Kim.

Well, need to get to bed. hugs all

T-Lynn...so sorry to hear about your cat. Sigh. So hard to lose a member of the family. Hugs to you.

The cat in the tree made me snort my water through my nose. Hmmm...probably shouldn't be reading posts and drinking water at the same time.  I had to stop putting up some of my more fragile Hanukkah decorations because Tupac and Shelby could not stay away from them.

As I am typing this Shelby, the grey tabby who is high on catnip, is climbing all over me wanting attention. She is very verbal about this as well.

Got to talk with my Corpsman for almost 45 minutes yesterday.  One of his buddies at the base brought my son home with him for their Christmas 96. Sounded like they were having a great time!

My wish for all of you is for a happy and healthy New Year. Did I miss it...was their a baby born yet?  So behind all of this.

Hugs.

Afternoon Ladies -

Got an unexpected Xmas present - a nice cold so catching up with ya'll. Hope Santa was good to you.

Love the Cat Tree Commando pic!

Hope we have baby news soon. The last few days is always the hardest.

Sorry to hear about Lightning - losing what we love on the holidays is hard.

Heard from our sailor Xmas Eve (Xmas morning for him). It was a rarity that everyone was home when he called so he got to talk to all of us - Nice present.

Take care.

M's mom, they do berth aboard. There is a waiting list for the nice barracks, and yes, I have heard they must be E-3. They also must be up to date on things such as qualifications as required by the ship. The rooms are like little suites, very nice.

My son is in Atsugi also. He got there in August and he loves it.

T, so sorry to hear about your kitty.

Barb, sorry you did not get your visit.

I am much better, but still very fatigued.
