HI

The Elf on the Shelf was a big FUN surprise. As were their new tupperware Disney glass set. It was on sale. Now I have to find a new place to move that elf.

Gentle hugs Barb. He thought of others first - he had Christmas ready.Very happy too that the post card birthday he enjoyed.

So baby due the 24th! I agree with you - HURRY. Not so much for the weather as Grandma Kim's arms are so wanting to love that baby.

It is always hurtful when we miss those calls. You will get the hang of it and I am looking forward to when you share he called at 2 AM your time, but how much you enjoyed being awaken :).

Well, glad your back Maggs. What you mean - not a registered as a Pan Mom? Your computer must have gotten that flu bug. Any new nature photos?

Isn't it the truth how suddenly when our kids get older - we get smarter to them?

Blondie  - enjoy every word you shared. Love how you handle these weekends. Sounds like all is going to go fine.

If all goes right - my sailor will be home too for Christmas. Looking forward to having both sons here. And we are STILL painting!.  I think this house has gone on a paint drunk . It has been taking sometimes three coats to cover this brown. And we are priming too.

DIL is doing ok. She sees her doc on Monday, so then we all will know what level this diabetes is.

Wish I had some more gossip. But I am out.

Oh - thanks for the links. Love the concert and thanks for the address to send cards

Wish all a great Friday !  hugs

Barbara so sorry to hear about your Uncle Jerry. From the way you describe him he was a wonderful man. You were blessed.

Blondie - with my sailor he did one year of college [aka video games & beer] and came to us that June & told us he wasn't mature or disciplined enough to continue college so after researching all of the branches he chose the Navy. He is consistently at the top of the classes he attends and we've received impressive comments from his superiors so this was the right choice for him.

Paraphasing but...When I was 18 my father was an idiot, but by the time I was 25 it was amazing how much he had learned. - Mark Twain

Roots & Wings - best of luck.

I know you are already doing to much to let our sailors know we appreciate their sacrifice. But if you have a few extra cards around consider this one also...https://www.facebook.com/USAmilitarymoms/photos/a.136044639914156.1...

Suddenly, it's December....time always goes too fast now.
Had a nice turkey dinner, but our Uncle Jerry passed away the day before. He is the one that the family sent out 90 postcards to be returned for his 90th birthday in September. So glad that happened first and he got to enjoy the memories. He died peacefully in his sleep after getting all the christmas gifts ready for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the day before.  Such a sweet man and the funeral was very beautiful and touching.

Kim-well, at least he's supporting himself on his own, but I agree, military is a great place to grow and mature.
Your christmas will be so full of smiles-I know your dil will appreciate having family there. Excited for you!

T-lynn- haha, I am sure they will enjoy that elf-good idea!

Cheryl, Cool! Love Bob Seger

MtMom-yep, that time difference is what is the Biggest pain.Glad you managed to get a call in. Trip sounds wonderful:)

Blondie, Holidays are a Lot of work, but so fun. Joey sounds like a perfect fit.
Loved the AF band

Hi all--

Received an email from my son, he received the packages sent by my Blue Star Group, it took about 2 two weeks.  I hope that short time frame will continue.

ITS RAINING HERE in California!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Its so welcome.

Blondie, I loved the post.

My baby is living in DC.  Graduated college, no job, works at the Hamilton in DC to make ends meet while trying to find a "real for him job".   Don't get me wrong.  I am proud of him.

Sailor and I have been trying to convince him to look into military.  He has the gpa to be an officer, but even if he doesn't get that, his opportunities will be better after 4 years enlisted or reserves.  He is so immature and it comes across in interviews.  Jobs are scarce these days.

I secretly scanned the crowd looking for his face.  LOL.

Blondie thanks for the Air Force Band posting - great way to start to my holiday season.

I loved all the Thanksgiving stories.

My sailor and his wife were here for Thanksgiving.  First time since 2007.  My DIL has gestational diabetes also.  It is more common in Oriental women.

Baby is due December 24th.  They moved last weekend and started shopping for baby furniture, car seat, etc this weekend.  I told him HURRY!  Their house is in the woods.  I worry when the road is called "Far Away Trail".  The hospital (West Point) is 1/2 hour through windy, mountanous roads.  They are renting from a couple that built another house nearby.  This house has been on the market for a year and they are thrilled to be renting to active military with a new baby arriving soon.  They are good to them, but this is a weekend home.  They own a condo in NYC.  I keep phoning to make sure their cell phones work.

Youngest in D.C. could not make it, so sailor invited us all to his house for Christmas.  We may be eating in the hospital cafeteria, but we will be together.
