It's actually a Marine base but my son is in the Navy and is stationed along with a lot of others that make up Navy forces. And I would love to hear information from others about the area, or others that have family or friends stationed there.

Any ladies stationed at KBay? We have been here a year and a half and would love to meet others that are stationed here.
Jami: good time of the year to arrive on Oahu! Hope you check into the other "Hawaii" group because it's loaded with reference discussions about sights, roads, weather, shopping, accommodations and eateries on the island for you to browse thru. I think most of us here, are members there also....
Interesting article from Stars and Stripes RE: military aircraft noise around K-Bay communities.

congrats to your sailor, and thoughts of strength for him during SERE. My son said he hated it, but glad he went thru it.
Deb: your son's gotta know how you feel anyway about this issue, because you raised him of course! So, yea, I think you're right, you just have to listen, listen listen and be there for him ....this relationship may deteriorate anyway, ya never know? Or it will solidify and you still will be the sweet smiling and loving Mom as always. He needs to know he can always talk to you--about anything!...its so hard to watch our kids make mistakes/ make unwise choices--or make commitments too early in a relationship---but I always try to think of what could be worse: he might not talk to you at all, or he might be running with a rough crowd, or using drugs, or NOT have a job/career path at all or NOT have his good health! (my "pollyanna" syndrome) You must be his place of sanctuary for talking things out. My mother used to say after listening to my youthful woes and dilemmas: "so what are you going to do about that?" or "do you know how I would have fixed this problem at your age??" then after she gave HER solution to MY problem, she would conclude with: I know you'll do the right thing (make the right choices, do what will be best, see your way thru this, etc etc) years later, i realized how very wise she was-always listening but 'sneaking' in her advice too!
Congrats to your son JAMI! He'll love Kbay! small town atmosphere around there, easy for bicycles, mopeds, walking around. Great little places for food, nightlife, outdoor concerts & the beaches are right THERE!
He says "its always 85 degrees and sunny Mom!"
