Wow, Sheila, you sure have lots of good news about both your son and daughter!  I'm so happy for them and for you.

I am hoping to make it to Glendale days cause it sounds wonderful.  I love all these fall festivals and visiting orchards.  We're heading out this afternoon to go to Boyd's Orchard in Versailles.  Went to our Burgoo Festival here in Lawrenceburg yesterday.  It's small, but got me some yummy burgoo!

My granddaughter will be 4 months old tomorrow!  I will post a picture of her that my son and daughter-in-law sent me.  My son's ship left out today and will return on Oct. 17th.  He won and IPOD (Impressive Person Of the Day) on his ship about a month ago.  It is given by the captain and he gets a ball cap, medallian coin and a certificate.  As a result, he also got promoted to work on the flight deck.  He LOVES that and is enjoying being on the flight deck when all the helicopters are landing and taking off.  His ship is doing trials and getting certified to take on a new type of helicopter that will only be able to land on their ship.  That's what they are working on this next few weeks.  He showed us some videos of the Osprey landing and taking off while he was working on the flight deck - pretty amazing!

We got to go spend a weekend with them in Norfolk a few weeks ago and had a great time.  He had duty that Saturday, but we got to go visit him on the ship for about 3 hours that aftenoon.  It was Maddi's first trip on the ship, so she was a very popular attraction with all his shipmates!

I'm so excited for Karen and her husband getting their special dip up and running.  My sister is helping them get set up at the place where she volunteers and now they are just waiting on all the hoops they have to jump through with the health department.  Prayers are being answered!

Here's the picture of Maddi that was sent to me last week.  It's a little blurry, but I think you can see why they sent it to me!  I get my new bifocal glasses this coming week, so I sure do feel old now!  Never had to wear glasses before, but old age is finally catching up with me!

Everyone have a great week.  This group has been pretty quite lately, so I gues that means we're all very busy.  Hope everyone is getting a chance to go out and enjoy this fall weather.  The leaves are just beginning to change and I can't wait to take some car drives to go "Leaf Peeping"!

Happy Fall Y'all

Well, hurricane Irene has sent a nice "package" to our family here in Ky.  Our daughter-in-law and granddaughter left Norfolk and came up here to get away from the storm.  Here's a news story done about them that aired tonight:  http://www.wkyt.com/news/headlines/Hurricane_evacuee_seeks_refuge_i...

Can I just say, "You ladies Rock!"  I am so blessed to know each of you and so proud to say I am a Ky Navy Mom!

Binker's Mom-That's awesome that you have gotten an Honor Flight in the works.  I have seen first-hand how awesome those are and if there's anything I can do to help, just let me know.

Cornerstone Mom - I enjoy your pictures and posts on FB.  I hope things are going great for you.  I miss you and hope we can get together soon to catch up on each other.

Dolphin - Wow, you sure do work hard!  Your energy inspires me.  I am looking forward to our trip to Cincinnati for the Navy Moms breakfast. It will be great to meet some more great Navy Moms.  Question - What's a twinkie?

Sheila - I'm so happy for your son and his wife.  I hope they get to move into something soon.  Your daughter seems to be doing great, especially with having the baseball player in her life now.  How are things for you?  Still seeing "Mr. Wonderful"?  How's your mom doing?  Tell her I said hello.

School for me is getting into a better routine and my schedule this year is the best it's ever been.  So I can't complain.  My youngest son, our baby, is a senior this year, so exciting times ahead for this year as we send our last child through his last year of school.  I will be taking my Mom with me on a trip to see granddaughter Labor Day weekend and now our family is planning another trip down there the weekend of Sept. 16-19.  I'm so excited to get to spend 2 weekends in the same month with my son, DIL and grandbaby!  Sooooo excited!  I can't remember if I posted this pic or not, but it's worth posting again if I did.  It puts a smile on my face every time I look at it and I hope it puts smiles on your faces, too.  Have a glorious weekend :-)

Hey Moms!

Back in KY for school but have been off line for a while as I got my eyes fixed a few weeks ago and they still aren't in the best of shape for extended computer use.

Sheila-the words of the chaplain are so moving. God forbid any of us ever have that call at the door, however, what hurts even one of our family hurts us all.

You guys are going to be so proud of me! I have almost completely established a Honor Flight Hub up in the Southern (NY)/Northern (PA)Tier. Few more bits of paperwork and I will be able to actually start preparing the first flight. I dedicate it all to you ladies for turning me onto this wonderful organization! hugs to you all.

Hello ladies it has been a while since I have posted.  My husband hasnt been feeling well so I've been tending to him.  Our sailor was able to come in for a couple of weeks and just returned on Wednesday.  We had a really good visit, plus some of my family came for the weekend for an awesome family visit.

jboysmom I love your picture how sweet!!!

dolphin-Hope you enjoy your visit with your sailor.

Nursenavymom-Glad you had sailor time also. The visit goes by way to fast.

Hi Ladies,

I've been absent from here because I've started back to work - yuck!  I have 10 days of extended employment before school starts so I can get the library ready for opening day of school; which is Aug. 11th.  I've been working most nights til at least 8 and I'm worn out!

My granddaughter is 2 months old today.  Here's a picture of her we had made last Tuesday, before they left back for Norfolk on Friday.  I am going to take my mother with me to Norfolk Labor Day weekend for some sightseeing and of course, to visit little Madelyn Olivia!
