Moms! Please step in and help!  Molly is up to 12! Come on Navy Moms. There are too many of us to let her lose!

Please take a second and vote for the Molly's Adopt A Sailor project on the Pepsi Refresh Project - the top 10 in each category receive funding and we've dropped to 13!  Her project will help   those injured on the front line, and deployed active duty servicemembers in Afghanistan.  A very worthy cause!  (I apologize if this has been posted here already and I missed it!)

Vote! Vote! Vote!

Sheila,

We still need to get a Ky N4M outing planned to see a Hot Rods ballgame.  Now we have another reason to come to a game to see your daughter's new boyfriend!  I'll look at the Hot Rods schedule to see when they have some weekend games.

My daughter in law came to visit tonight and brought my granddaughter.  I just had to share a couple pictures to show her off.  The first picture is of a shirt we got for her to wear when her daddy's ship comes in next week.  The other picture is of her next to a picture of my son, her daddy, when he was just a baby himself.  They sure do look alike!  The third one is me holding her - the proud Nana!

Well, ladies, my summer is officially over today.  I started back to work today for my 10 days of extended employment before the start of school.  I have to get the library ready for school and order new books for the library.

My daughter-in-law and new granddaughter have been here in Kentucky visiting while my son's ship is out to sea for the month of July.  While I haven't gotten to spend as much time as I had hoped with them; I have gotten to see them a couple times.  They are heading back to Norfolk this Friday, so I'm trying to see them as much as possible this week.  I'm taking them to lunch tomorrow, then to get pedicures from DIL and me and then to take the baby to get her 2 month portraits made.  I can't wait 'til tomorrow!!!!

Don't forget to send me a message if you want to order one of our new Ky Navy Mom t-shirts.  I've only heard from 4 of you so far, but we need to get an order of at least 12 before they will make them.

Wishing everyone a glorious week,

Lisa (jboysmom)

Hi Ladies,

I got some information today from our t-shirt design shop here in Lawrenceburg about getting shirts made for our group.  Unfortunately, I did not have the file with me to show them what our design looks like.

However, based on what I told them, they said they could make shirts for us that would cost $12-$18.  There must be an minimum order of 12 shirts and they have to be paid up front.

Send me a personal message if you want to order a shirt so I can give you my address to mail me your payment.  I'd like to get these ordered by mid August so we can have them to wear for those of us that are going to the Navy week breakfast in Cincinnati Sept. 1st.

Wow!  What  an awesome experience I had on the Honor Flight yesterday!  It was one of the most moving and heart-touching experiences I've ever been a part of.  I can't pick my favorite memory of the day because there were so many, actually every minute of the whole day was my favorite!

It was especially special to see 3 of our Ky Navy Moms (and 1 Dad) waiting at the airport in the Welcome Home line when we got back last night!  Thanks Dolphin, Cornerstone and uoflgrad for being there to show your support for the Veterans.  The Veterans had no idea they would get that Welcome Home and they were stunned to see all those people there.  They kept saying all day, "I can't believe all of this is being done to honor us!"

They got honored all day from the moment they arrived at the airport, to the pilots and stewardesses and other passengers on the plane.  They were welcomed by a group of Sailors and motorcycle riders in Baltimore airport on arrival.  Every memorial we visited, they had LOTS of people, including children, come up to shake their hand and thank them for their service.  There was a high school group from Minnesota on a tour and they all came over to the Veterans to thank them - so touching to see and witness!

If you ever get the chance to be part of the Honor Flight, I would HIGHLY recommend it.  I'm already starting to save up so I can go on another one.  And I KNOW I will be checking their schedule so I can be at the airport for the Welcome Home celebration each time.

Here are a couple pictures of my new friend.  His name is Chet and he is 85 years old.  He's one of the younger ones because when the war started, he was still in high school and had to wait til he turned 18 to enlist.  He was a flight engineer on the B17 bombers and I know so much about flying those now, that I could probably fly one myself, but I'm so glad I got to know him!  He's been married for 63 years and it was so touching to see his wife get out of her wheelchair and run to him to hug him when they got back.  Love like that is so rare these days and I'm glad I got to be part of it.
