jboysmom, I am going to try to meet you all later at the airport. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I had the privilege to be in DC at the memorial when some WWII vets were there. As my grandfather was a WWII Navy veteran, I was so moved. Walked away with tears dripping off of my chin. lol Again, thanks for doing this for them.

Hi Ladies,  I'm getting ready to drive to Louisville airport and board the Honor Flight. I'll be a Guardian today as we take WWII Veterans to Washington DC to see the WWII memorial and other sites. It's gonna be an awesome experience!

babrams7, That is great news about your son.  I hope you will continue to be a member of our Ky Navy Moms group cause "once a Navy Mom, always a Navy Mom"!  You can still give lots of great information to others that may join and you are always welcome to help us with the projects we work on to help out our sons and other veterans.  Our current project is to write cards for 160 sailors on a submarine that "Molly's Adopt a Sailor" group is sending care packages to.  We are meeting July 16th in Glasgow to write the cards and would love to have you join us.  If you can't make it to the writing party, would you be able to write some cards at your house?  If so, let Dolphin know cause she has our Ky Navy Mom cards that we use to write the sailors.

Hi all - I've not been on here for awhile I was on vacation. While I was gone I got a call from my son and he will officially be out of the Navy on July 22nd.  He was on deployment with his ship when he got the news. He hated being on a ship b/c of the limited physical activity but he had finally found his place as an HM. He had filed papers to get out with an honorable discharge as a noncombatant about 6 mos. ago now he's having second thoughts b/c he really liked being an HM. I am so excited to finally be able to have him home but I'm also a bit sad that I won't have the Navy connection that I've had with all of you.

7It is a definite firm set date of Thursday Sept 1.  Lt. set time of 7:45 am to 9:00>  He asked that I find a place we could eat breakfast downtown so I'm looking into a few places and will nail that down too.

Yes, Dolphin, I would love to help with writing notes for the submarine.  I would love to go down to Sheila's "neck of the woods" this time and the 16th works just fine for me.

What do you all think about us getting together at the public library near Sheila?  I looked at it online and they have a meeting room.  It says you can also have food and beverage in the meeting room.  So we could bring some snack items and drinks to munch on while we write the notes.

Sheila, it says that only a person with a library card can reserve the meetng room.  Do you have a library card for the "Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library"?  If not, could you maybe go there and get one and see if we could reserve their meeting room on July 16th from 10:00-4:00.  They are open on Saturdays from 9-4.  If we could reserve it for the whole day that Saturday, then we could go out to grab a quick lunch to take a break and then come back to do more cards.

What do you all think - Do you want to try to meet at the library near Sheila in Glasgow on July 16th?

Wow! I go for 1 day without checking this site and there are lots of posts for me to read, plus some awesome pictures!

Sheila, your pictures are wonderful and you look beautiful.  That is so special that you got to be part of the ceremony.  I know you are a very proud mom now!

Dolphin, I am still praying for your son and I know things will work out for him to finish on time.

Thank you to all of you for the prayers.  My son finally called me this morning and we talked for almost an hour!  He apologized for not calling or contacting us and said he had been working a lot of extra hours as they are trying to get the ship ready to leave out.  He said he gets home around 6 each night, then helps feed and play with Maddi and then goes to bed early so he can be back on the ship by 6am.  I'm just glad he called!  His ship is due to leave out this coming Wednesday and if it does, they will be out for the whole month of July.  His wife and baby will be coming up here to Kentucky to spend a few weeks, so I hope we get to spend some time with them.

Oh no, Dolphin.  I'm so sorry for your son.  I can only imagine how frustrated and upset he must feel.  I prayed so hard this morning that something would happen so that he would get all the signatures and do his boards.

Will he get to keep all the signatures he has already gotten for the next boards or will he have to start all over again?

I know it is hard to hear, but God has other plans for your son and knowing how well your son has done so far, I know that God use him to do great things.  I'm praying for your son and for your family as you all have to deal with this setback.
