Sheila, I'm so glad your date went well and am so happy that you are finding someone that will treat you as special as you are! That is so special that you get to pin your son - so special and what great memories you all will have from this trip - enjoy :-)
Karen, I have been praying for your son all week and will be sure to pray for him Friday morning, especially at 10.
Ladies, I would also ask you to pray for me and my husband. We are missing our new granddaughter so much, but unfortunately, my son and daughter in law don't understand. We have not heard from them for over 2 weeks and we don't know why. I have been crying just about non-stop from the pain of missing them. I don't know what to do - whether to keep trying to contact them or just back off and try to wait for them to contact us. The baby turns 1 month this Saturday and we want so bad to go see them while I'm off work this summer. But we can't make any plans to go because we're not hearing anything from them. My heart is breaking and I don't know what to do. Please pray for us.
Ktssong - Yes! Add me as an attendee for Sept. 1st. I will ask off work for that day and will make a Navy Mom day of it!
If any other Ky Navy Moms want to go with me to this breakfast, let me know and we'll work out riding together. I'm sure there will be lots to do that day in Cincy since it is Navy week. If not, there's lots to do there for sight-seeing, too.
I nailed it down to a specific day. Thursday, Sept 1 2011 for Breakfast. We will give exact time when we get enough RSVP's If you can come for sure let me know and I will get us a time and place. It will be downtown Cincinnati. If you want to private message me with an email address then I can gather all the yes's and email everyone the details at the same time but I will post it on here the same but now since he gave me a day, I'm looking for firm committments.
kttssong--dates? I am confused Aug 29 to Aug 5-- is this Aug 29 to Sept 5 OR Jul 29 to Aug 5. I can make plans to be in Cincy any date in upper Aug and would take a day in late aug, early june. Please clarify. I might be able to get my mom to come too and maybe even my daughter?
Kttssong - I left a post on your wall last night that I would love to attend the breakfast, but I can only do it if it is on a Saturday or Sunday. I might be able to attend if it was during the week, but I would have to see if I could get off work.
So put me down as a yes! I'm sure that I could get my work schedule changed so that I could attend if it is during the week.
Hey Ladies!
So glad you were able to get together today. I just got back to NY yesterday after a whirlwind 7 days: Charleston, SC last sunday, Louisville for a shakespeare institute Mon and Tue, back to Elmira for Baby Girl's 8th grade grad on Wed, to Boston on Thur morning and then came back with momma and BG yesterday. 2 nights in a row in the same bed: ah joy!
Just a quick thought for writing parties: I wonder if any of the TN moms or IN or OH or other borders would want to join in when the meeting place is close to the border? dont know if that would be desirable or not, but a thought. have to come up with something to make up for the fact that I am never in state for the group gatherings!
I have to tell you, as a former military person, I tend to be stoic about things others find emotional in the military world. I have talked with other vets about this and have come to the conclusion that the military breeds this in us so we can effectively deal with the injuries and deaths of our comrades. that being said, I sobbed during the film clip of the last freedom flight. what a wonderful gift to these patriots. People in the hotel down in Charleston must have thought me crazy every time I made one of them or a group of them watch it!
hugs to you all. not sure when I'm coming back, but Baby Girl went to Lou with momma, so I have to come get her sometime in the next couple of weeks!
I only wish that more of you could join us. I know things come up and we all live very busy and hectic lives, but we need to take time out and do something for ourselves. Getting together with other Navy moms is such a treat for myself because I can finally talk with others that actually know what I feel and go through with my son being in the Navy. These ladies "get me", even more than my husband!
I am also proud to be part of the service projects we do each time we get together. We made some plans for more projects in the future and I hope more of you can join us to support each other and others in the military.
