I just added our next event on the calendar.  To find it, scroll down this page until you see a calendar on the right-hand column.  Click on June 26th and then look through the events for the one title "Meet and Greet with a Cause".

I tried to add a link to the Grey Goose on Google Maps, but I don't know if it worked or not.  Anyway, we are meeting there at 3:00 this Sunday to write the special notes to the veterans going on the next Honor Flight.

The address for the Grey Goose is:  133 W. Main Street Midway, Ky  Their phone is:  859-846-9933

Hope to see lots of you there!

Just got back from an afternoon trip to Midway.  It is a typical small town and does not have very many shops or restaurants open on Sunday - Tuesday.  The only 2 places that are open on Sunday are both sandwich type places.  One is called "The Grey Goose" and the other is "Wallace Station".

The Grey Goose is open til 8 on Sunday and Wallace Station closes at 4 on Sunday.  Food looks yummy at both places and neither said we had to make reservations unless we had more than 8 of us coming.

Grey Goose has salads, sandwiches and pizza.  Wallace Station has salads, burgers, sandwiches and a bakery.    Grey Goose has more seating, but if there's just going to be 4 or 5 of us, there are enough table space at either place for us.

Dolphin, there might be more places to choose from in Georgetown.  If you have any suggestions from there, just let us know.

Sheila, That's great that you can meet by 3pm.  I will find out what places in Midway will work for us and I think it will be easier to get a 3-4 time instead of 5 because a lot of them close for the afternoon.

I'll let everyone know what I find out later this afternoon.

Yes, I got a thank you letter from one of the Honor Flight veterans, too!  He sent a link to pics of him when he served in WWII.  If you go to www.95thbg.org you click on Personnel, then Flight Crew photos and scroll down to his pilot's name Simpson, Harold -334thSqn and click on it.  He's in the back row, on the left.  He said there are only 2 of them still living from the photo.  Yet another reason why these Honor Flights are so important this summer and fall.

I cried the whole time I was reading his thank you letter as I read how much he enjoyed every minute of the Honor Flight experience, especially when he wrote about the reception they got when they came back to the airport in Louisville that night.  It made me realize how important it is for as many as possible to be there to welcome them back home.  If any of you can possibly make it to the Louisville airport on the evening of July 9th, I know you will be very glad you are there to be a part of honoring these veterans!

I would love to help write the letters and get together but I'm leaving for Miami on the 22nd. to see my daughter who had the miscarriage. I can't believe I won't be able to meet you guys again. I am looking forward to the day when I do finally get to meet some of you.

Would it work for us to get together to write WWII thank you cards on June 26th around 5:00?  Sheila, Midway would be about a 2 1/2 drive for you, so would you be able to join us?

I will call around tomorrow and see which place in Midway can accommodate us so that we'll have a place to get together to eat and then to write some thank you notes.

Dolphin, I agree with Sheila - we all need to give you some money so that you don't have to buy the cards by yourself.
