Ok, Ladies, it's time for us to get together for a lunch in the next 2 weeks because we need to get some more Ky Navy Mom cards filled out for the July 9th Honor Flight.
I talked with the head of the Bluegrass Honor Flight yesterday and he said the veterans enjoyed the cards we sent for the June flight. I had my students make some cards and pictures and he said those were a hit as well.
For this flight, there will only be about 25-30 veterans, but I want them to have some of our special Ky Navy Moms cards.
How does Saturday, June 25 or Sunday June 26th sound for us to get together for lunch? There are some really quaint places in Midway that I think would be great for us to meet. I haven't been to any of them, but hear they are all great. If we can pick a date and time, then I'll be glad to call to make reservations for us.
I'm on summer break now, so I have more time on my hands. If it would work better to get together on a week day, I can do that now, too. Just let me know what everyone wants to do.
Thanks,
jboysmom (Lisa)
babrams, my heart goes out to your daughter and the loss. My best friend's sister has lost 2 babies in the past 3 years and I see all the pain and anguish they go through. I can only imagine how your daughter feels. I will keep her in my prayers.
dolphin, woo! hoo! I'm so glad for all your good news about your husband getting a job and your son passing his test and getting so close to graduation. That's some awesome news!
Sheila, I saw your post about the cookbook and I'm glad you re-posted it because I had forgotten to submit mine. I just submitted my first recipe and will continue to add others as soon as I get off our Ky Navy Moms site.
binkers mom - I'm so glad you are getting to be at your son's graduation today. The sun's shining so brightly here that I bet part of it is from your bright smile from beaming with pride for your son! So happy for you.
My son had to return to the ship yesterday because his daddy leave was over. He said he did ok and that they put him in charge of some things on the ship. He was excited about that, so I guess it made up for him having to be away from baby Maddi for the day. At least the ship is still in port being fixed and won't be going out to sea for a few more weeks.
I have great news, too. I got the confirmation call yesterday and I will be one of the Guardians for the July 9th Honor Flight! I can't wait to go and help the WWII veterans get to DC to see the memorial in their honor.
Hi ladies I haven't been on here lately, my daughter (22) was pregnant with twins and lost them. She was about 10 weeks along, she lives in FL and I couldn't be there with her. We are all doing fine now, God is in control and he knows what he's doing even though we don't understand his ways at times. I haven't heard from my son since his ship left on May 6th. at least I know he's somewhere in S. America and safe.
Jboys - Maddie is beautiful and what a precious pic. She will grow up so fast, I have a granddaughter and it's hard to believe that she's 6 already.
Shelia - I have a ton of recipes I can send. I was director of the women's group in our church back home and I did a cookbook one year so I still have those recipes. I'll send them today.
Dolphin - Isn't God just great!!!! Congrats on your hubby getting a job. I hope your home business will get going sooner now. It's hard to wait on God when we have plans but his timing is perfect.
Have a good Thursday everyone.
oh, so much joy in Kentucky!
jboys how precious she is and how wonderful that your son was able to be with his ladies at the birth.
dolphin: I just got done watching the video of the honor flight and I cannot stop crying. Sometimes, I feel like my relatively easy service is so cheap compared to the price these heroes paid. thank you for sharing the coverage.
my binker and ladylove both passed comps for nuclear power school yesterday. graduation friday. relaxation in an empty hotel room for me. now 8 months of hold. he gets to work at the veteran's hospital and she will be with habitat for humanity.
hugs to all you wonderful Kentucky ladies!
Her's a picture of the book:
Dolphin, I will pray for your son and his test tomorrow. I know he will do awesome!
Sheila, yes, we made it back home, but I sure do miss that little cutie, Maddi. We only got to spend 5 days with them, but that little sweetie has stolen my heart. Never knew I could fall in love with her so quickly. I'm already looking for a week this summer when I can go back down there to spend more time with them!
Thanks for the info about the new cookbook. I just submitted a bunch of recipes for my family. We always make a new cookbook each year to sell at our Relay For Life here in Lawrenceburg. I'll gather up the recipes I submitted and will send them for the new Navy cookbook.
Here's another picture of baby Maddi and my son.
Here's the link to the special segment done by WTVQ channel 36 news about the Honor Flight that went to DC from Louisville on Monday: http://www.wtvq.com/iphone/8499-honor-flight
The middle pic is my son napping with Maddi. He has not let her out of his sight and is being an awesome daddy. We met them at the NEX today after they took her to the first pediatrician visit and he would not let anyone else push the stroller, not even his wife! Maddi is only 4 days old and she already has her daddy totally smitten with her! He also found out today that somehow his chit got "lost", so his paternity leave didn't start until yesterday instead of last Friday. Just another way that God shows He's in control and not the Navy! So now instead of my son having to go back to work on the 13th, he doesn't have to go until the 16th! God is AWESOME!
God also made a way for my husband and I to be able to spend more days here in Norfolk. There's a couple that has become friends with my son and his wife. I actually introduced them after I chatted with his mom on the Norfolk Moms group when she asked if anyone would help get her son and d-i-l hooked up when they moved to Norfolk. They became instant friends and it so happens that right now, he is on a 6 month deployment, so his wife has gone back to stay with her parents for a few weeks. They are letting us stay in their house this week, which helped us not have to pay for a hotel. Their house is at the end of my son's street! If all this doesn't make you believe in God, I don't know what would!
And to top it all off, today we went to the beach while my son and his wife took Maddi for her first pediatrician visit. While on the beach a helicopter flew over us twice. I took a picture and sent it to NursNavyMom(Sheila) and told her I wondered if it was her son since he's here in Norfolk for a few weeks. She talked to her son and we tried to meet up with him at the NEX, but didn't get to see him. We might get to meet up with him tomorrow, though. It's been a great day!
Blessings to all of you,
Lisa (jboysmom)
