Dear Binker's Mom,
We totally understand how busy things get, especially these last few weeks of school. I know how that is because I am an elementary school librarian. That would be great if your students could make cards or write thank you notes to the veterans. I am going to have my students make cards and write notes this week, too. I had a few students make them last week, but we were busy with the book fair and didn't get many done. If you just have them begin the card or note with "Dear Veteran", then we'll be able to use them for any of the honor flights that leave out this year.
Dolphin has the address where you can send the cards and letters. I'm sure she will get that to you.
I am soooo sooorrry I missed the celebration. My niece graduated from high school yesterday and by the time I got out, it was 1:00 already. I had reclast done on Friday and was starting to have hip pains. Let me know how I can help during these last two weeks of school. I can have my kids create cards for whichever group you wish. Since I am in Louisville, I can get them whereever you need them. Unfortunately, my husband and daughter live in Upstate NY and I will leave as soon as teacher's last day of school is out on the 3rd because Katie's birthday is the 6th and with all our snow days, I have missed it a couple of times during the last few years. Strike that--snow, ice, hurricane, rain, somebody in charge didnt want to get up today, etc days!
Hugs to all you ladies!

It was such a blessing today in Louisville at our Ky Navy Moms outing with a Cause. I feel so proud to be part of such a caring group of ladies. We did a good thing today writing all those cards to be given to the Veterans on the Honor Flight that leaves Louisville on June 6th.
Dolphin, the card you had made are awesome! I know the veterans are going to love them.
Sheila, I hope you and your mom got home ok and didn't have to drive in the rain very much. Your mom is so precious and I'm so glad she's doing so much better now.
We missed having others join us, but I hope more will be able to make it for our next outing. I love spending time with other mothers that know exactly how it feels to have a son (or daughter or loved one) in the Navy. It's comforting to know there's others out there going through the same.
God Bless all of you!
jboysmom - How awesome that you are able to be a guardian for the WWII vets.
Could someone out there give me the address to the Joe's Crab Shack where we will be meeting? I live closer to the Florence area so I will need to get the directions off of mapquest. I'm no stranger to the southern part of our state, I was just in Bardstown yesterday. My husband and I like to jump in the convertible and just drive south. (Too bad it's been raining so much) I can't wait to get to meet some of you this Saturday.
Have a good week everyone.
Today, I went to my first orientation/training for being a guardian on the Honor Flight for WWII veterans. I feel so honored to be able to do this and I had tears well up in my eyes several times during the training because these WWII veterans are so deserving of this special trip.
I hope that as many of us KY Navy Moms will make it to the Louisville airport on June 6th to be part of the Welcome Home celebration when the WWII vets arrive back on their flight from DC. They will arrive at 9:30pm on June 6th and the honor flight coodinators want as many supportors to be at the airport as possible to make this a very special memory for the veterans. It will be the special "Welcome Home" these vets never got because most of them were not welcomed with open arms when they returned from the war. Now we have a chance to help them know how much we appreciate their service to our country.
So please put this date and time in your calendar: June 6th @ 9:30pm - Louisville airport - to welcome home the WWII veterans from their Honor Flight.
Look so forward to seeing everyone on Saturday at Joe's Crab Shack!
