Hi Lia - Welcome to the group, I am in Union, Ky. My son was ship 4 division 814, before he left for BC he told me not to write him b/c it would be distracting. Once he was able to call to talk for 10 mins. he told me to write him everyday if I wanted to so I did. He said that the letters were the only thing that kept him going on some days. Write him as often as possible.

Hi ladies :) I'm fairly new on here, but new to this group. My fiance left for boot camp two weeks ago. I've lived in Northern KY for the last 14 years now, and this will probably be my last year here, seeing as I'm getting married in a few months :) It'd be great to meet some other gals though, seeing as we're all going through similar things. Counting down till graduation, 6 1/2 weeks to go!

jboy! Congrats on a new Jun 6 baby. They are wonderful little girls if I do say so myself. We have missed 5 days now, I think and we are up to June 4th or so. And even if the state decides we dont have to make them up, Jefferson County always makes every one up--when we missed the week for hurricane gus and then the week for the ice storm, we made all 11 up! And if the stupid days didnt hit when we already had days off or coming up, at least! But 3 the week before Christmas, one the week after and then one the week of MLK? Why not Feb when there arent any days off at all?

Binker's Mom - I'm feeling the same as you.  While I do love these snow days, enough already!  My school system (Fayette County) is now going to have our last day of school on June 2nd.  That's getting too close to the due date for my 1st grandbaby to be born!

Thanks everyone for the congrats.  Since I got snowed in right after finding out it's going to be a girl this week, I haven't gotten to go shopping for something pink yet.  Guess that's a blessing on my pocketbook, but look out Buy Buy Baby store when I do get to go shopping!

Hey! My Katie's birthday is June 6th. If we dont stop having these stupid snow days I will not make it to NY for her big 14th birthday!

jboysmom - Congratulations!!! My daughters birthday is on June 6th. I only have 1 grandchild, unfortunately she lives in another state but we see her as often as we can. You are going to have a lot of fun shopping for girly things.

I got awesome news yesterday from my son and daughter-in-law.  They had an ultrasound and found out they are going to have a girl.  I only have sons, so this is exciting for me to have a granddaughter!  She's due June 6th and I'm already planning my trip to Norfolk for at least a week in June :-)

Thank you, jboysmom. He got off today and seems to be in good spirits. Haven't gotten the call that he is on base yet. But we talked to him when he landed in Chicago.

I will definitely be using this site and all of your experiences. Thanks!

Dear uoflgrad68,

I saw your post that your son leaves tomorrow (Jan. 18) for bootcamp.  I wanted to let you know that I will be praying for you, your family and your son as he leaves tomorrow.  We're here if you need us - just a post or message away.  You're starting on a roller coaster of emotions for the next several weeks, but it will be a lot easier if you stay close to the Navy Moms site and groups.

- God Bless
