I'm here and wating to see if anyone still wants to rent a cabin for one of the last weekends in March? I'll be glad to make the reservations, I just need to know who can go and whether we want to go to the Falls of the Rough or go to a State Park?
Dolphin - Congratulations!!!! That is such a relief.
Winter months are really not a good time for me...even though we haven't had much snow this year. I am on call every other week. Hopefully the next outing I will be able to attend.
I'm sorry to say but I won't be able to attend either weekend. I am on-call one weekend and the other I am unavailable. :( Hopefully next time!! You all have fun!!!
Hey all you Ky Navy Moms!
This group is either very, very busy, snowed in or off vacationing somewhere warm because there hasn't been any posts since Jan. 13th! Where is everybody???
I'm getting cabin fever and want to get our spring Ky Navy Moms get-together planned. I got an email that is offering a special rate for cabins at Falls of the Rough Resort. It is a special rate for educators (and that would include me!). I can get a cabin that sleeps 6 for $69 per night and this special rate is good until March 31st.
The cabins have: full kitchen (including all cooking and dining utensils), a dining room, one bathroom, a sitting area with HD flat screen televisions and Directv and a front porch overlooking the Rough river.
I Googled the location of the resort and it is 2 hours from Lexington; 1 hr. 30 min. from Glasgow and 1 hr. 45 min from Louisville. Looks like it would be a central location for most of us.
What about it ladies? Do you want me to reserve a cabin or two (more would be even better if we could get a bunch of us to go!) How does Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24th work for everyone? We could arrive Friday evening and then check out Sunday morning after breakfast.
With the special rate, if we can get 6 of us per cabin, then it will only cost us $25. If fewer go, the price will be a little bit higher.
Or we could go the weekend of March 30-31, but that is the first weekend of spring break and I didn't know if many of you had plans for spring break or not. That weekend works for me, so if we would rather do the cabin that weekend, we can.
I just need to hear from you all as to which weekend we want to do our outing. If anyone has a different place to go, please make the suggestion. I can also get a state employee discount at any state park through March 31st and can get a cabin for $79 - most of those sleep 4 and some sleep 6.
Come on ladies, let's get this planned! Need to hear from you asap.
Hi Dolphin!! I'm glad you got to spend some time with your son and DIL. We had to celebrate my Sailor's birthday (New Year's Eve - 21st) while he was home for Christmas. He had to fly back out on the 28th. I'm just grateful for the week we had with him. Safe travels for your family!!
Wow, Sheila Clark - what exciting news you have been able to share with us! And, of course, your posts made this Mom cry, too! I'm so happy for you and your son. That's wonderful that you got to make the trip to Hawaii, especially to see his re-enlistment ceremony. Can't wait to see pics.
I hope you can join us in late March for our next outing 'cause we sure do need to get caught up with each other and share all our exciting events that are happening.
I wish everyone a Happy New Year that's full of lots of proud/amazing moments for us Ky Navy Moms!
Dolphin - that was an amazing Christmas present!! What a wonderful thing your son and daughter-in-law did.
I am already dreading Wednesday. It is so hard to let them leave. I already miss him and he is still at home with me.
jboysmom - Maddie is a cutie!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!
I know the day's almost over, but I wanted to wish a Merry Christmas to everyone. My son, his wife and our baby granddaughter have been here all week. We got to see them several times and treasure every moment with them. They will start the drive back to Norfolk tonight and finish tomorrow. He has to be back on the ship on the 27th. Now this Nana is checking her calendar to work on the next road trip for me to get back down there to see little Maddi :-) Here's her Christmas picture
Merry Christmas to you all!!! Those of you who have your sailors home, treasure every moment. Those of you who don't, I will be praying and thinking about you.
Happy birthday today to Shelia(NurseNavymom), I wish for a wonderful day for an awesome lady - have fun :-)
