I will be doing scarfs for the large Christmas project at Molly's Adopt a Sailor. They are not going to mention anything over on that site because they are concentrating on other projects right now. But, since it takes a while to knit or crotchet a number of scarfs, she as given me the go ahead to contact you all. The scarfs will need to be no wider than 8 inches and no longer than 60 inches and no fringe that could get caught in their gear. I'm going to stick to desert camo and tans in my scarfs. Any of you have any thoughts please let me know. The more scarfs the better. They will all be sent to our sailors and Marines to keep them warm.

To those who are helping with scarfs for Christmas. We now can announce that they are going to a group of 250 Seabees in the very cold mountains of Afghanistan. Thanks for all your help and love.
They just changed the shipping date. The scarfs now will be shipped to our sailors on Nov 1 st. So, if you want me to put them in my boxes I will need them before Nov. 1. Please contact me off list and I'll send you my address. If you would like to ship them with a note from you or your group, I will post the group and shipping information here.

Molly just informed me that we have until the 1st of Dec. to get the scarfs shipped out. So to those planning on sending them to me, they only need to be in the mail by mid-Nov. Sorry the dates keep changing. Its a Navy thing I think, at least we have more time not less. Thanks to all.
good morning,

I have a group of friends that I knit with. I have told them about the project and several are interested. Can you tell me alittle more?
II am new to this site and Navy for Moms.
Thank you, Mary
flowermom, We will be sending scarfs as part of Molly's adopt a sailor program's Christmas gifts. We don't have a group yet, so I can't give you an exact number. They need to be no wider than 8 inches and about 60 inches. They must be desert camo, dark tans or light browns. They will most probably be going to Afganistan so the yarn needs to not just be soft but not have any fuzziness that could get caught in the equipment they carry. Make them warm, make them simple. Thanks for helping.
I Love to knit! Where and when do you need the scarfs?
We will need then in Nov. to ship in early Dec. They are going to be part of our Christmas adopt a sailor theme. You can either send them to me or send them directly to our adopted group.
Well, I now have an idea of the goal we will be shooting for in our Christmas Scarfs. So, I'm putting out the call to let you all know that our goal will be between 200 and 300. I'm not sure everyone will get a scarf, but I would love for that to happen.
LLove,
My knitting group has completed 2 scarves and 4 neckwarmers. We're working on 7 more scarves and 2-4 more neckwarmers. There are some who are interested in doing fleece scarves too! Please add these to your total!
Also, Do you know who is going to recieve them yet? Some of my knittig ladies are asking.
Thanks!
