My son has been assigned to Ship: 12 Div: 98 with PIR probably on 3-11-11. Are there any KS Moms with the recruits with same assignments?

My son leaves for Great Lakes this month. Are there any other KS moms with recruits heading to basic in January or who are already there?

This morning, our sailor graduated Strike Analyst 'C' School at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center in Dam Neck, VA.  So, finally, after 9 months as a non-rate, he is an ISSA (he will make ISSN next week!)

We are - obviously - quite proud of him and very excited that he is on his way back to Kansas for a couple of weeks before reporting to his new assignment in California.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the rest of the Kansas Navy family!

Yay! Our son graduated 'A' School today and will be flying home tomorrow for his first leave since taking off for boot camp in mid-March. We get him for a little more than a week before he returns to Virginia and 'C' School.

Our son PIR'ed back in May (Mother's Day weekend!). Whatever anyone tells you about how moving it is, it is even more so. Kleenex is a definite must.We were fortunate enough to have CJ be with us the weekend afterward - the rest of the day Friday and pretty much all day Saturday and Sunday.

They have to be back in by a certain time each night and - and least for our guy - they get pretty nervous about not making it back. So each night we got him there earlier than we really wanted to so he didn't have to sweat making it back to the "ship" in time.

Also, be aware that if your sailor draws watch on that weekend, they might not get to spend all of one of those days with you.

Finally, bring plenty of cash to spend on Navy swag at the NEX by the gate. T-shirts, hats jackets - everything you can think of. You can go in and shop, but your sailor has to make the purchase.

Hang in there, Stephanie. Boot Camp is both excruciatingly long and surprisingly quick - all at the same time. The toughest part is not hearing from them very often. Starting writing letters now - they never get too many letters.

Once you get the packet in the mail with your PIR date, go find the N4M group set up for that particular training group. They usually even set up discussions for the individual divisions. Its a great resource.

Headed to Great Lakes Graduation for Andrew tomorrow. He is so glad to be done with Boot Camp. Hope my plane out of Wichita is timely.
