Only four days to go before we get to hug Kansas' newest sailor after PIR at Great Lakes!

It seems like he's been gone forever, and at the same time we can't believe how fast boot camp has flown by.

Navysister09, I was just reading posts and catching up. I am so sorry your brother is having to go through this. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers!

Karen, The Nex is very small, but we were able to get a flag and decals there. I guess the Marines have a very small installation at RG. My husband's firm has done some work for them. The address is listed as 15790 Elmwood Ave. There was no gate to drive through to get on base and no one questioned us when we checked out at the Nex.

To all, I would be happy to pick up decals and/or flags when I am in San Diego in early March. Just let me know what you want!

We proudly have a service flag in our front window and I put a decal on the whiteboard in my classroom. Got ours at the Nex in San Diego and then picked up a couple more for family members at the little Nex at Richards Gebauer here in the KC area.

I hope to come - my son just joined - after several trips to MEPS and no jobs - last Wed job open - he is set to leave Sept 1, 2010 - trying to leave sooner - Even though he has not left yet - would it still be okay to come and bring him & his girlfriend? So proud of him - just a little nervous about it all - Thanks for any information -

Hey Kansas Ladies!

I just want to share with you an article about a women in Kansas who has been collecting old shoes and flip flops to raise money for our veterans. I posted the full article in the Navy Briefs forum and here is the link...

Are you done with those shoes??Posted by Mary, Proud Mom of Nick on July 14, 2009 at 2:23pm in The Daily Brief

They accept donations at the American legion Hall and she also picks up shoes, I thought if you were having a gathering and could bring your old shoes - this might be a great thing to support. Thank you for considering this.
