FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'm from Derby. My son is part of Cardinal Company that left Aug. 6. Just got his box yesterday. I know what you mean about the DEP.  Wichita area is more serious about it than they were in Southwest Kansas 10 years ago when my older son joined.

hey all- hubby and i took son to Wichita then on to KC. he arrived at GL, tues. 

just this navy life is truly beginning...missing him but not teary...surprisingly...i believe that DEP is kinda like the 9 months before a baby is born...just ready by the end of it...LOL

Hi All!!! So glad to find some Kansas moms :) My son is starting his 2nd week at BC. (He left 6/5/12) He's a Grad-n-Go, leaving for Pensacola after BC. I miss him terribly and look forward to PIR in August! I'm in Lenexa, KS so if anyone is close let me know!

hello dawnl, i'm from sw kansas and my son will go to bc on july 17th.  i do have another who lives in olathe...he went to mnu, graduated and when finished up w/ ku law.  he now works w/a firm on the plaza...
