Unfortunately, my son is 24 year old. He's been out on his own for a few years, and I don't know who his recruiter is. I'm not going to play the woe-is-me card. He said he'd keep in touch, and I believe him. I'm just a little disappointed that I'm not further up on the list than I thought I'd be. Well, he knows that I love him, and he knows that I'm always here for him, and that's what matters. This will work out in time. Thanks everyone! Oh, those boot camp videos were great!

Okay, I found out from another family member that my son made his telephone calls to his dad and sent the box to his dad. I also found out that he'll be graduating on April 8 and leaving on April 9. Unfortunately, I am not yet privy to my son's address. I've got to figure out how to make this work for everyone.

This was posted on the TSC Facebook wall 15 minutes ago. Here's everyone's chance to be heard.

Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes I am trying to determine what people have been told by whom. It is not my intent to affect people who were told they would have liberty. I need to know who told them. The new plan will go in affect but I did not want to impact people with plans. Still working this. Talk to me folks. Who told your sailor they would have liberty.

My son left Kansas City on February 9th, but I haven't received any mail or telephone calls. Would someone call me if he became ill or injured?

How will I know when my sailor's PIR date is?
Comment by SherryBerry on February 14, 2011 at 1:35pm

I live in Overland Park, KS. During the week, I'm a student at JCCC, and on weekends, I work at a hospital in KCMO.

SherryBerry, I think if you go on the chat, you'll find moms who have gone through divorce. They are very good about answering questions and giving suggestions.

There is a PIR Reference Information group with lots of information. http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pirreferenceinformation?xg_source=...

Also check out the RTC site:  http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/index.asp and their Facebook site:  http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand

As soon as you know your son's PIR date, join the group that will be formed.

Take care!

Marty, thanks for your note. We'll see how it goes!

I'm not sure how this graduation thing is going to work out for divorced parents. My son's father and I don't talk to each other; he lives in Mississippi. Since I didn't get a call from my son when he got to Illinois, I'm assuming that he called his father. I didn't even know boot camps had graduation because when my oldest was at Lackland AFB, he never told me about it or called or wrote or anything. Are there any divorced parents here? How's it working for you?
