The Myrtles in old town Portsmouth does, 757-397-2000. They're right next to the Navy Medical Center. Really nice place too, & great amenities.

Hey ladies i was wondering if anyone knew of any apartments in the Norfolk/ Virginia beach areas that accept dogs over 50lbs (i have a fat lab lol) Im having a hard time finding apartments that accept them and an even harder time finding ones that dont have ridiculous pet fees. Im dead set against getting rid of my dog or leaving him with my parents. He's all i got on deployments lol.

@dandoona, outside. We are renting a cute little two bedroom house in Portsmouth. The only downside is I hate driving through the tunnel :(

Dandoona, I didn't mean to imply I'm a new mom!!  My son is a corpsman &  lives in Portsmouth by the Naval Medical Center.  I visit the area pretty regularly, have great friends there and plan to move to the area eventually, as we're sailors - of the catamaran variety :)  I used to live in northern Virginia and worked in DC - it's another world from the Norfolk area.  Every time I go to Norfolk/Portsmouth I find more great things to do.  Last time it was the Back Bay Nat'l Wildlife Refuge & beach just south of Sandbridge in Virginia Beach.  Weekends I love the Outer Banks, especially the ferry to Ocracoke Island.  Going north, Chincoteague is another great day trip or weekend (nice beach, too).  And of course DC and Georgetown with a stop at Tyson's Corner!

LOL wow! haha thats funny! How do you like VA by the way?
Comment by Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom on May 11, 2011 at 7:44pm
Tell the truth, that wasn't so much an issue for me - thank goodness!  But had a funny thing happen - in the middle-of-nowhere Texas we passed some old ladies who'd run out of gas. We got to the next town, unhooked the car, and put a gallon of gas in the car and I went back to them (my husband stayed with the truck for some reason).  When I got to the old ladies, they looked at me - OBVIOUSLY pregnant out to there, and in a Mercedes - and said in all seriousness, "You must be from AAA!"  Go figure lol
